Lemieux is a fighter I'm really enthused about. How many pure 1 punch ko artists are there from 160lbs-175lbs? And who was that guy who beat Ricardo Cordoba in about his 7th fight?
I think with most of the fighters at middle right now it won't matter whether Lemieux is a front runner or not in fairness. We've got some decent prospects of our own but he'd blow all of them away, probably in a couple of rounds each. DeGale has won me over anyway, good luck to the lad. Even if he does sound a bit thick
Aaah yes. The cuban exile. If he's 30 (and with tremendous amatuer experience) no wonder they're fast tracking him.
I don't even consider him a prospect. Considered by many to be the best Amateur of all time, he's 30 years of age and clearly doesn't have that long in the fight game. He won a split decision over Cordoba and was knocked down in the process. He's very good, but clearly not as good a Professional as he was in the Ams.
He looks good so far but its still too early to say after only nine pro fights. One thing I can say about degale is that the guy takes inspiration from wwfs the rock, back of this weeks boxing news even has him posing like he's about to drop the peoples elbow. Not be lonh before he starts raising his eyebrow in his interviews
