He's never sold a huge amount of tickets and his first major fight he came across as a pathetic bully. Can't see it being too easy to recreate him now.

I think he's a lost cause. He's been consistently unimpressive - even his signature win over Paul Smith looks a lot less impressive after how Groves took him out.

Just dont get all the love Matchroom as if they revolutionized boxing in britian by putting Kell Brook vs Matt Hatton on in Sheffield and getting barker KOd Martinez

I think Degale last fight against the pole was good and still think his career will eclipse Groves and don't see how matchroom can promote him any better than FW how has him on cards which are selling out and is European champion after 12 fights including 1 loss all this considering no one likes him

Its because he puts his fighters in against live opponents, something other promoters only talk about! If they win or lose it doesn't matter, thats the point.

I'm not a fan of Degale either but that beauty of a right hand Groves landed on Smith doesn't really detract from Degale's performance IMO. It was just a peach of a shot, it's not like he'd really pummelled him before it.

There's a lot that can be used to detract Degale's pro career thus far but he was excellent vs. Smith in a fight where I think most thought he would at least be pushed hard. The shining light of his 12 fights definitely.

Plus that fight & Anderson-Groves, and the hype they caused, are what led to me getting the ridiculously generous 14/1 on Groves pts so I'm not complainign about it!:happy

Its not just the Brook/Hatton fight he put on, its the way he built him up starting at Hillsborough Leisure Centre then Ponds Forge and then Sheffield Arena. Frank couldn't manage this in about 5 years.

Matchroom could promote him way better, its not all about the fights, there has to be PR work done too.

Like FW putting Chisora in with Klit and Helenuis and Murray in Rios yes they where live oppenents just like Barker vs Martinez and Mccloskey vs Khan did you think any of them stood a chance.
What i will say is credit MCcloskey vs Presscott

I would get it if matchroom where doing genuine 50/50 fights but they are not how many people you picked Hatton to beat Brook

I think Maloney puts on the worst cards just plain terrible

    Degale a "lost cause" haha

He's European champion, Olympic Gold medallist, former British champ FFS!

Hearn would love to have Degale on board, aren't we forgetting what he did with Audley (promotion-wise it was a perfect job).

Tell him to stop being a **** and a bit of good PR - sport relief, loads of charity work, get him on the snooker and darts, people would soon forget about the razor thin Groves loss.

i dont care what promotion team he's with, he needs to find a new trainer. his current one is **** imo. he needs to move to america where they are more used to training slick counter punchers.

he's talented fighter but he's not progressing like he should.

No point signing DeGale if he's gonna stay with McDonnell..

If I was a promoter, I'd only sign him on the condition he hires a new trainer...

That's the bottom line, really. Amazing that some people think James' loyalty is some sort of good character trait - it's just further evidence of his arrogance.
