I'm not sure about DeGale being unable to recover mentally.

He put up a poor showing and got beat..... it wasn't like he gave everything but was still dominated and stopped.

There's fighters like Hopkins, Marquez and before that Trinidad that could fight a guy, take everything had and still dominate him and get him out of there in the late rounds..... whereas Groves had a good gameplan and got the W.

Unless DeGale really is a mental midget :think

Looking back though I do think Groves got inside his head, first of all by actually taking the fight, then giving the impression that he could win. Not so much by anything he actually said.

i wasnt trying to take the **** mate. you would be surprised how many fighters read these forums. groves reads esb i no that.

in general everyone around him was building him up and it was kind of false. the best fighters degale has ever sparred are darren barker and nathan cleverly. compare that to groves.

mentality and confidence is a major thing. in his own head he has been built up to be a superstar, worlds titles this year etc, and now he lost to a guy he was meant to ko in 4 rounds.

also i want exactly right. i predicted a degale win i just always said degale was getting hyped and groves under rated based of there last performances.

Fair Play, Jumped the gun mate my apologies.

I agree with your post. No much i can add really. Disappointed that i overrated him but still like him and all's not lost. I'm glad it was close so both guys can move on now. Hopefully forwards not backwards.

Mendy is bad news. Warren needs to insist that DeGale ****s him off asap.

A big part of the problem may be that Degale will convince himself he didn't really 'lose'. I wouldn't have argued with a draw or a decision either way, but Degale needs to ask himself why he allowed Groves to impose his strategy when Degale is obviously the 'superior' boxer. There's probably just as much an argument that Degale won the fight as much as Groves did, but it should never have been close based on their respective skill-sets. I also think a few people are over-reacting, it's not as if George did a Prescott on him, it was a damned close fight between two very green fighters that know each other very well, and in this day and age, they should not really have fought at all at this point. All this fight proved was at that a sub-par Degale was just as good as Groves performing at the top of his game.

Still an arrogant ***** though, he needs to drop that **** asap.
