Unproven? James DeGale is unproven, man. The fact is that Ward has dominated opponents at the world level even if he hasn't had the opportunity to do so with a lot of fighters. Against Bika he had trouble no doubt. he was fighting a bigger version of himself on the inside, it was guaranteed to be tough. And on the outside he DID pick him off. He even said himself that he wanted to mix it up this time for the fans, and you can see that he was throwing big punches early on in the fight to try and knock Bika out. When that didn't work he went back to the normal gameplan. I don't think Bika is below par. He's always a challenge for any fighter and he had R. Shields in his corner that time around. He looked much improved. I guarantee you Ward will embarrass Abraham in this next S6 bout.
this is true.... shouldnt hype him too much. just like what i see. he realy does do everything to the highest level. we will see if he starts doinmg it against better opposition. my guess is he will. mainly because his versatility will make him hard to read. you cant come up with a game plan to beat him because like ward he can fight in so many ways.
america...... "paul williams is a future hall of famer" "daniel jacobs is the best middle weight in the world"
theres no fighter with his variety and adaptability. but when u say skill what do u mean? he doesnt produce the heart stopping combinations that dirrell or khan does. nor does he counter like mayweather or roy jones. for me he's just good at everything not exeptional in any way!
I can't wait until this arrogant ****er is laid out on the canvas prescott-khan style. It will happen.
Substance, not flash. 1) Ring generalship is incredible. From the moment he gets in there he dictates the pace of the fight. We've seen him do this against boxers like kessler, swarmers like Bika, and sluggers like green. He can dictate a fight inside, he can dictate it outside. He's almost always in control. 2)Inside skills. Great head movement and positioning as well as ring cutting. Great physical strength, often manipulating and pressuring much bigger guys with arms and short combinations to the head and body. 3)Great outside skills, can counter and block punches very well at this range and when he's boxing on his toes only the quickest fighters in the division can keep up somewhat. His jab is really great here, he uses it as an offensive and defensive tool, and counters with it frequently. Where he is lacking: His combination work could indeed be better as could his finishing ability overall. He can actually hit a lot harder than people think but he's not good at putting 3+ punch combos together and really going in for the kill, he's too conservative(kind of like tim bradley actually). If he could amend these deficiencies he'd be a complete fighter
manny steward said on on the ropes the other week that ward isnt a truly great fighter. he's a solid all round boxer. but not special and i agree with his opinion.
It's not like British fans hype every guy, or there'd be lots of threads about Groves, Murray, Barker etc.. The fact is, DeGale is a special talent. Olympic gold medalist, a great amateur and he's now finding his form as a pro. People can **** on Smith, but he was ranked 4th in the world by the WBO and has only lost once, beating some very capable fighters. DeGale soundly outclassing and stopping a guy like Smith, who was supposed to be a tough match up stylistically, was impressive.
ward to me is just in another league. degale is ok. he has potential but i think ward is just in another league
