Super middleweight titleholder James DeGale says he is not getting the proper respect and is willing to come down in weight to get a fight. He says he will fight Gennady Golovkin. I have to respect that. A fighter willing to sacrifice an advantage just to get a shot a proving his greatness. That is a warrior mentality, and its a shame Golovkin with all his talent is not cut out from the same cloth as him and all the fighters who aren't afraid of taking risks. If Golovkin won't fight Canelo for the 8 figure offer should he needs accept DeGale's challenge for a fight at 160. sources: google and youtube
Jesus lots of fighters say things If Laradid half the stuff he Says he is going to do on twitter they would be building a status of him in Miami as we speak
GGG is by far the most disappointing of the currently abundent crop of immensely talented Russian fighters looking to prove greatness. The way he is at his age (where he's still finding excuses to not take legacy building fights) has always lead me to wonder, either what is this guy hiding, or what is he afraid of? To answer the OP, GGG should be fighting everyone with a pulse at this stage of his career, already at the end of (probably past) his prime. He should have been doing whatever needed to be done to get these type of fights 5 years ago.
That's your response? Ggg doesn't acknowledge fighters calling him out because lots of fighters say things? Lol
Lol. 5 years ago? What a clueless comment. Sure, not even one year after leaving Universum behind i.e. after being treated as #3 behind Sturm & Zbik for years, Golovkin should have "done whatever he needed to do" to get marquee fights. Get a fukken grip.
The man has been fighting going on 11 years now, no excuse for not taking a couple big gamble's on short money legacy fights. If he's as good as everyone seems to think he wins them, and then he's in the Red Head's shoes at the bargaining table. Instead he played it safe and waited, now at 34 he is in the same boat, and is running out of time. Kovalev is just as hard a puncher as GGG, and he is a example of what G should've been doing thur his late 20's. That's why Sergey will be remembered for being great, and GGG will be lucky if he's just remembered.
Spot on man. I'm a fan of Lomachenko and Sergey because they have that winner, and warrior mentality.
Actually he has taken the short money tons of times to get fights lol. DeGale at one point said he doesn't want to fight Golovkin but I honestly think that has changed. I really like this potential fight but I would rather them do it at some catchweight or 168 so we can see the Degale possible. The only problem may be DeGale holding titles since if Golovkin wins that could make him champ in 2 divisions which I don't think the governing bodies will allow. They can probably get around that by doing it at a catchweight.
Oh I see... who was supposed to be his Salido? His Cleverly? Who was an established name at MW and got cokky enough to offer Golovkin a chance? Golovkin took short money plenty of times, see Stevens and Lemieux. Don't forget Golovkin was signed to fight Pirog until he got injured, got ducked by N'Dam 3 times, ducked by Sturm I don't know how many times, signed to fight Lee until his own father passed... not to mention the missed Martinez opportunity, since Dibella saw "an animal" in the Macklin fight that he didn't want to throw in with Sergio - hence the Cotto money fight. Short money legacy-builder fights? What were they? You have some nerve discussing his late 20's considering the Universum fiasco. It's like you started following GGG yesterday, lulz.
He is trying to fight everyone he can. Big names too: Canelo, cotto, Eubanks, Jacobs, David lem. All these names he has or trying to fight. When you negotiate with another fighter the intent is to actually fight them.
OK you GGG jealous haters Name me ANY fighter 168 & under that have made a LEGITIMATE challenge to Gennady & him turn it down??? There are NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
