Slapped with his punches, one paced, awful jab, poor power.....

He looked a complete **** in the build up. A bigger **** in the ring walk. A twat during the epic introductions. And a letdown in the fight. The other olympians showed a little potential while he looked pretty ordinary. After the fight he seemed a **** too.

His performance was pretty much a non event. Nothing happened and he seemed totally disinterested in the fight.

KO isn't everything, i agree. Gavin wanted to make an impression on his debut, and did so in style. If De Gale was happy to just impress with his technique then he did ok but still has a lot of flaws. I didn't see one bit of evidence that he packs power or a killer instinct. His opponent landed one punch a minute and De Gale was just happy winning rounds in amateur style. The jury is still out on De Gale in the pro's but then after 1 fight so it should be.

Arrogant southerners don't tend to go down very well north of Watford, i think that is the main reason he was booed!

p.s. i hope he goes on to prove his talents in the future.

I think the problem may have been the attitude of DeGale rather than the lack of action. He walk's in there like ****ing Prince Naseem but fail's to deliver any excitement, if he'd just come on without the big fanfare and the word's Olympic Champion MBE about 3 times during his introduction then he may not have been booed.
He also had the misfortune to follow two stella debut performances so it was always going to be hard. the ref didn't seem to like him either so all in all not great for DeGale, Things can only get better. and the Booing was uncalled for depite what i think of him he didn't really deseve that!

DeGale was crap in my opinion. He spent too much time cuffing and slapping. I expected him to bring the most entertainment tonight but I was bored out of my mind watching the guy. Sky's sack swinging of DeGale is annoying already!

Does the average Sky viewer really swallow the hype that they are fed? I guess most do. De Gale put in a tentative 1st display against someone that didn't want to fight. Why not tell it as it is. Some of the punches he was throwing suggested athritis, not belt winning material. I'll give him time but cut the crap sky.

Ironic. The man in your avatar thinks Degale will be a flop. As eccentric as Euban is i agree entirely. Deglae doesnt have the neccesary tools nor attitude to be succesful in the pro ranks. He did the right thing by cashing in off the olympics but alas money aside he`s only delaying the inevitable.

Did DeGale even lose a round tonight? If not then he did fine, you dont have to be entertaining to be successful

On a serious note, the reason for the booing was because the arena was full of fellow Birmingham City fans, and booing has been our default reaction to most things for the past 100 years

Did you even watch the fight?

I would rather be raped in the face than watch him fight again.

DeGale was never in the slightest danger of dropping a point and if his opponent had enganged he might of been stopped for all we know.

Sadly the hate is so predictable.

Good job Richie Davies was not the ref. He would have probably chucked both out for lack of effort.

too early to tell anything yet, he got caught a few times tonight and was trying to fight like calzaghe, mayweather and mosley all in one,

i didnt like the fact he is going on his reflexes as his prime defence, as a novice he should be using his hands as his number 1 defence, at the moment he is trying to defend like mayweather which aint gonna happen, mayweather took years for his defence to evolve into such a great tool yet degale thinks he is good enough to put it into use in his first pro fight
maybe james has bought into his own hype and thinks he is gonna be the next p4p star from england, jim mcdonnell needs to sit this chap down and bring him back to sea level, he has a lot of bad habits which will be exploited in 12 months

on the other note, his combos were good and he shows a nice smooth rhytm throwing his shots, he goes to the body well and has great accuracy in his hands, overall i was impressed as his bad things can quite easily be sorted, is mcdonnell the man to do it i dont think so

DeGale will not be exploited in 12 months because he will not face a worthy opponent in his first 3 years of boxing. Hopefully he comes good though.
