Let me tell you the truth about Degale in his first pro fight. If that other guy would have let his hands go I could see his punches clipping Degale and we would of witnessed the most embarressing pro debut ever lol. When that guy was letting them fly I thought Degale was going to get his chin checked. Degale should have taken a leaf out of Mike Tyson's book and come in all black, no frills, no glitz or glamour and left all the bravado in the dressing room. He did not make any impression and all he showed the world is that he still needs to adjust to the pro's, there is nothing wrong with a critical 1st performance but I can see the comparison with him and Audley, Audley is a big joke in my opinion and I sure hope Degale doesn't end up being one.
If all our opinions are worth **** all then why are you on here? Wind your neck in you blert. Booing isnt for me but he constantly acts like a bellend and didnt back up his promises in the ring, do you expect a standing ovation? Not gonna happen and disrespectful shite like tapping the other bloke on the back of the head isnt going to endear you..sorry him to anyone either.
i knew this would be the reaction. typical. so called 'fans' being so critical of the guy in hes FIRST fight is just silly. and sad
i thought de gale boxed well didnt look the finished article but who ever has in his first fight come on boys lets give him a fair crack of the whip
degale simply showed he is still very amatuer, i think with his style it could be difficult for him to be a decent pro. he fiddles with the jab, doesn't sit on any of his shots and for a debut was more concerened with how he looked rather than how he fought. not an impressive debut by a long shot, Gavin looked worlds better....
DeGale is **** was always **** and will always be ****. if darren sutherland had any ambition in the olympics after he was guaranteed a medal he would of punched the head of that arrogant ****. Did ya see the state of him with his golden shorts and his fanny tapping punches. He is a perfect example of a person who just got lucky in beijing.
this topic is just daft tbh ... aprt from the crowd booing him. There was nothing Fraudley about his performance
Last nights fight was not the most entertaining, although when his opponent was throwing an average of 15 punches each round in a 4 rounder it is hard for DeGale to look good. DeGale caught his opponent in the first round with a nice counter when his opponent opened up for the first time, after that he did not seem interested in doing that again until the last round, which made it hard for DeGale to hurt his opponent. Overall the performance was average, yet we seen some of his attributes, speed and a good mentality, because he did not let the fans or the occasion get to him and he just got on with his job.
Couldn't agree more and the "Ohhh, you tell 'em Frank" bit during the interview was truly toe-curling... I'd also rather not comment on the Jade Goody bit at the start of the interview. At risk of sounding like a bitter and twisted c**t, why did he not mention Ivan Cameron? This guy sounds like he's already been caught up in the PR mill and he needs guidance. He also needs to be given some home truths about the promoter - fighter relationship: Frank will only be there for him so long as he's can but bums on seats or front a dodgy PPV event! Fast hands and slick combinations that lacked power and a horrible tendency to slap. What would he have done if placed under pressure; as it stands we don't know so the jury remains out. He also took a couple when in close - better fighters will have taken note but what initial class of opposition will he be fed on his way to his first ABC belt or title? As always, Warren will handle him wisely to maximise the earnings potential then who knows - maybe he'll stop answering his calls. And to think I was in a good mood after some great boxing on TV last night - hats off to ITV4 and to Setanta for some great coverage last night. the best night in I've had in ages! Bunce and Andy whitshisname were a great double act but the Alan Partridge guy's French on ITV4 was a revelation. (If only he could speak Spanish then he could take over from the moron that asks the post-fight questions on HBO.) Rant over...
Apart from DeGales awful jab and pitty pat punching, was his defence. It looked really bad, and I really thought there was a chance he'd get caught.
A bunch of us should get together, go to a future DeGale fight and chant "AUD-LEY, AUD-LEY!" Potential good night, that.
