DeGale was ****, arm punches alone will not win you pro titles. He moves well i wasnt surprised Johnny Nelson liked his performance, but that isnt the style which will make him a succesful pro, people wll soon forget the gold medal and he will have to stand on his own two feet.

He had a defensive european fighter in front of him but the other two boys looked good and they had the same sort of stle in front of them. HE seemed to have no killer instinct in what was his debut against a smaller man. Gavin doesnt have power either but atleast he showed an interest in a stoppage.

BJ is still the best of the three imo.

To be fair Degale's oppponent was the most defensive minded of the three

Truth be told his fight was worthless, bar getting his debut out of the way

It proved Degale is utter shite, and that he'll get KTFO before he reaches domestic title standard :happy

I think he was pretty nervous. But for the few seconds when the Soviet was swinging, he caught DeGale a fair few times. I definitely wouldn't say he was the best Olympian of the night. I'd say that was Gavin.

DeGale looked to be in very good shape, that I can say. He has fast hands and knows how to box.

Give him a better opponent and he will look better IMO. He will coast if he's allowed too.

Also, Billy Joe Saunders? Amateur Welter, pro LMW, but comes out as a MW???

And Frankie Gavin, Amateur LW/LWW, pro LWW, comes in as a WW? Are these changes permanent?

By the wa, Gavin looks the most vulnerable, BJS looks the most suited to a professional career.

    Guys,

Come on!!!!! Give the kid a ****in' chance. Some haters on here are already deeming him to be a failure. The same thing happened with Amir Khan, now Degale. I'll reserve my judgments until he has fights 10/15 times and see how he changes his style in the pro's.

  10. I hear Chris is back training. I'd love to see them fight at a catchweight.

DeGale was the least impressive of the Olympians, saying that he still beat the guy. Why did he dedicate his fight to Jade Goody, i understand her situation but this is boxing!

BJ is still a teenager, his body is likely to change rather quickly im not suprised he turned pro a middleweight.

What did DeGale do wrong ?

Initially he talked b/s for months, then he got Jimmy Mac in as his trainer and last night he threw pitta patta school girl type punches all night.

That pitta patta b/s might work in the amateurs but it ill not work in the pro's. I bet FW is having doubts already. The Georgian opponent was hand picked so DeGale would look impressive but he looked ****.

Saunders qualified for the Olympics 18 months ago as a welter, which is 152lbs in the amateurs and had to stay at the weight for the Games in order to keep his spot. Its not really surprising at his age that he's up over 160 now.
