James DeGale update - Mendy turns down fight. Turned down 50k paycut from Groves

    Dean Powell (Matchmaker fro Frank Warren) at Tuesdays press confrence.

    "An offer was made to Patrick Mendy the follwing day (of Prizeifghter Super Middleweights) and it was turned down my Jim Evans his manager. He just didn't feel he was genuinley expirienced enough or big enough to fight James at this stage of his career. He was very open and honest, the offer was made because obviously sky are always intrested in the Prizefighter winner fighting for a major championship. I discussed it with James and Jim McDonnell at the press confrence in London. They were happy, the offer was made but turned down. We are working on an opponent and hopefully will be able to announce sometone in a few days"

    "I would love to fight him but it doesn't work like that we with two different promoters. I would rather fight him sooner rather than later. Please beleive me I will knock him out in 5 rounds. Eventually we are gonna box hopefully I become British champion, he is Commonwealth Champion and by the end of next year we can have a big domestic showdown. Whoever Frank and Dean put infront of me I box. 50,000 (was offered) but I am not going to take a paycut. Thats a paycut for me so"

    Patrick's taking two months off after being in the gym non-stop for 18 months. Having said that he was helping some lads out with sparring a week after prizefighter!

    Also, Patrick is a middleweight, not a supermiddle. He may have been good enough to win prizefighter at supermiddle but now that he has a bit of a profile he deserves to fight in his own weight class. Patrick will fight anybody but it's good to see Jim looking after him a bit now.

    Hopefully George or his people see this and contact Kevin. Kenny is undefeated and is coming off of a win over the Prizefighter champ.

    Sellable fight. Instead Groves is fighting a nobody. Great.

    Yep we would welcome that phone call!

    Yes Kenny is currently sparing with George Groves. Have to say what a fantastic proffesional set up it is. Adam Booth really does do things the rite way really refreshing to see

    you are not wrong, the fight would be quality.

    on the other hand, i would love to see kenny (or anyone for that matter) get their hands on degale and do a number on him
