    :yep

I don't see DeGale facing a quality, live body for quite a while, mainly because the opponent would want too much money - if Warren is paying him so much that he can scoff at a £50k offer already in his career then there won't be a lot else left for someone else.

Plus, the last thing he needs right now is a KO loss to his most bitter rival on his record :hey

It's not right the amateur kids turning over getting so much cash so soon..... Jason Booth hasn't made more than £20k for a fight (yet) but has won allsorts of titles and lost for the European twice I think.

We are a bit in the dark at the moment but should have confirmation this week. My feeling is that we will still have to fight the final eliminator with Quigley

Paul Smith is in a catch 22 situation. Anderson, DeGale and Groves would all be risky fights he could lose, and if he wins everyone will just point out there were inexpirienced and he has had 3 times the fights they have.

His next fight will be his 30th. Ranked in the top 10 by the WBC and WBO. He is not ready for a world title and the European champion will not fight him.

Too much too soon for a number of them. Wazza has made him a marquee fighter on the back of **** all. I mean with respect to horton, and no respect to the wba international belt, it doesn't take much to outshine horton.
I know he wont be risked, but if he was, he would be in trouble.

always thought Quigley was moving down.

How was the sparring with Groves? Would you take the fight with him?

Paul is at the stage where he will be fighting a calibre of opponent that will always be risky. Who is ever totally ready for a world title fight? The groves and degale match up will not get made due to where each respective fighter is in their career. And to be fair Kenny is not that much further along than the previous two, so would be fortunate to get a shot, but would be more deserving of one than james and george.
I feel that a fight for the euro title will be pushed for

Although I agree you cannot lay the blame on DeGale. If you were offered 5x the amount of to do the same job as everyone else you would accept it............even though he shouldn't be bragging about it.

The gold medal is an attraction. DeGale is getting paid more to fight than anyone else on the bill, but at the same time every fighter on that bill tried to go to the olympics and would of got a simular deal had they done the job like DeGale in beijing.

Groves wants that fight. Magee already turned the fight down.

Don't get me wrong, I think DeGale has potential - but his win over Horton was tarnished a bit by Mendy belting him in Prizefighter.

They are all in a funny position - Smith vs Magee isn't made (**** knows why :-() - they don't want to make Groves vs DeGale yet.... Jeffries clearly isn't ready... judging by his form to date.... that leaves Dilks, Dodson, Quigley and Anderson.

The board should nominate Quigley as mandatory, given that the Smith fight was close.... then have semi finals between Groves/Dilks/Anderson/DeGale with the winners fighting each other for the right to face the Quigley/Smith II winner.... the loser of that takes the loser of the final for the next shot.....

    Does that make sense :blood

It does to be honest. I mooted the idea last year of a SMW super six tourno to establish the number one contender, but the BBOBC need to sort out a mando, and if i am being honest, someone needs to start being honest about why magee walked away from the fight, because i am not buying it was all about money.

Mendy would give Degale a quality scrap.

Weird they think he's not ready; didn't seem to bothered on holding him back pre-Prizefighter.

I think elimination tournaments are a good idea, at the minute it's too easy to pass someone off as being suitable without them actually proving themselves as being a top 5 fighter.

As for Smith vs Magee, maybe Magee didn't want a five fight deal with Warren?

I'm not a fan of exclusive contracts myself..... no doubt the terms were alright for the first fight but some of the remaining fights might have had set purses - if Brian did a number on Smith and then beat Stieglitz (say) then he'd be fighting world title fights for domestic money.

Either way, it's pretty poor form that this fight can't be made.... it's not as if either have many options, two titles are tied up and beneath them there are some good young kids and a set of fighters that they've already beaten.
