What if this was made in 2011? I know its unlikely as Magee is targeting Sartison Would DeGale do to Magee what he did to Smith? :smoke
It's a good shout, i'd let Chunky have a few more bouts then target him. Magee's decent and would present a fine test for him. But Magee would end up losing....he'd not be as easy as Smith though.
Magee did look classy in his last fight but the opponent was poor. He'd give it a decent go and may even know enough to take Degale the distance but I think Degale wins by a decent margin.
Got to say, I think chunky beats Magee handily, bit would be great name on his record. Would like to see how he copes with a good euro champ, or a Stieglitz tbh
Well Magee is the mandatory for the WBA Regular  Champ so I seriously doubt that he will go for a Degale fight rather then a "world title" tilt and also Magee is seriously experienced that really would be a sign of intent from Frank and Degale. I personally feel that Magee would pose far more problems then Smith did because he is a natural Super Middleweight and he is far more experienced at that level then Smith is (despite the similar record). The European is now vacant with Magee taking a shot at the title, how about Degale goes for the vacant title. Stas KASHTANOV and Eduard GUTKNECHT are up for the vacant title according to the EBU page but GUTKNECHT has just signed with Sauerland and hooked up with Ulli Wegner as his new trainer so I doubt they will stick him in a major fight straight away until he has had a few fights. I have also read on the Scene that ASIKAINEN will be taking on BALSZAY for the vacant title but that seems to have gone quiet recently. Maybe Frank could sweep in and get Degake a shot at KASHTANOV, that would be a good for James.
I don't want to get carried away with the Degale hype but I seriously think he is a level higher than all this eurobum/domestic shite. Ship him over already, let him fight meaningful fights on say, a Khan bill. He should be with GBP anyway, he's a shoe in.
Hang on let him first fight Groves and to see who is the best out of these 2 fighters. Way too early for a European title shot never even mind a fight with Magee. Let him progress first then put him in with the bigger and better fighters in the weight division in Europe.
I don't see the point in a Groves fight now tbh. I think DeGale has moved on and should be looking at fighting people like Edison Miranda.
I'm not sure what he'd learn from an Edison Miranda fight to be honest but it would mean more to the Americans and could lead to a big day against someone better.
A year ago I would have laughed at this fight. But truth be told, Degale has passed every test with flying colours. As a pro, he has barely lost a round. His toughest challange was smith, and we won every minute of the fight. Could he dominate Magee like that early next year? Doubtful if I'm honest. Could he dominate him late next year when he develops further, you betya!
