Callum Smith walks through Degale at this stage of James' career. If this is true (which I doubt) then it could be teh last time we see James Degale in a boxing ring

Agreed and surely it wouldn't be a great payday for Degale? He would lose killing the Groves fight.

I don’t blame him for vacating. Degale can get away with one more fight imo before the majority of people clog on that he has very little left. He may as well get a big payer in instead of getting pummelled by a strong kid with very little profile.

From a BJS perspective, I don’t see the point of fighting Degale now. He has no belt. I don’t blame him for having a crack at the 168 division though. He has an abundance of skill that he can take up to that weight. He wasn’t a big puncher at 160 so it’s not like he relied on stopping his opponents anyway.

I agree but you need a certain amount of power to stop opponent in tracks. In saying that i still think Saundees would beat DeGaale.

It's not a great look but it's a great move by DeGale and his Team.

DeGale will be seen to have ducked Uzcat, he will get some stick but it was a fight that I don't believe he would have won because stylistically I believe Uzcat would have caused him major problems, looking at DeGales last two performances.

They are obviously looking to cash out now, I have seen a Groves fight being talked about already, how realistic that is with the WBSS I have no idea and now DeGale has tossed his belt how much does he bring to the table?

I can see a Eubank Jr fight happening, both are beltless, it's a fairly big domestic fight, an ITV PPV job maybe?

I don't see the BJS fight happening now, DeGale just tossed away a world title, BJS would have probably wanted to fight for the chance to become a two weight world champion.

Interesting to see what he does next, if there is no "big fight" then I wouldn't be surprised to see him just retire.

I can understand why DeGale has not took the fight, he would have lost. What makes me laugh is when Froch retired and never fought him we had to listen to him bumping his gums saying he would have flattened Froch who was scared to fight him lol.

Without a belt the fight with BJS would not be viable for both parties plus what would be the purse ? I think the feeling that a defense against Uzcat would have been high risk low reward. Eubanks pretty similar finances to BJS and I think slim chance of happening . Smith in the WBSS final now if the finances are as portrayed in the press where it was a £1M for the preliminary rounds and building from that figure ,this represents Degales best cash out deal ! And should he actually win a massive cash out bonus with Groves

I agree a BJS v Degale fight is not a big right now.

Degale with no belt makes it pointless.

I think Degale has made a mistake and he believes his worth more than he actually is. Degale isn't a big draw here. Groves in a unification fighting was a his first biggest fight and his now not got that. Degale with no belt is a just another fighter and he isn't generating the kind of purses he thinks he can get.

Eubank is probably the best fight for him now.

Stylistically, although great for us to watch, Eubank would be an awful match up for him. He would beat Degale up badly. I’d actually worry for his long term health. Pre shoulder injury, Degale would have boxed his head off.
