**** opponent to give DeGale an easy start on Channel 5. http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=480479&cat=boxer He lost to Sanavia two years ago, who DeGale bashed up very easily in 4 rounds back in April.
In all honesty I wasn't expecting much, but the fact he lost to Sanavia does make it a very poor fight on paper. DeGale has a mandatory coming up after this against N'Diaye who is a decent fighter and will give him a good test.
Get him to impressively beat any lower level fighter, all the casuals watching Channel 5 will sit up and take notice, smart really. Fighting at 9pm on terrestrial would boost his fan base, which is exactly what he needs. Someone asked me asked me a while back what I thought of Kid Galahad, had no idea who Carl Frampton or Scott Quigg were. Says a lot really
The aim is to make him look good on his first outing, casuals will love it seeing an early KO against an opponent they have no idea about, they'll just know he's European champion and an Olympic gold medal winner blasting someone out in a few rounds, well, if all goes to plan.
Good to see him in action again, hopefully Hennessey gets him active. I'm excited to see how he gets on on Terrestrial TV
When it comes to boxing, much more watch Channel 5 than Sky Sports. If they put the boxing on at an earlier time, maybe they would do even better...
