Round 8

Mohammedi is getting right in there, hitting Cleverly with jabs and uppercuts all with his body turned and his head leaned away from counters. Cleverly tries to push off and get some space, and lands a thudding body shot but is primarily getting outgunned. Mohammedi starts to brush the top of Cleverly's face with a light jab while circling. Mohammedi is making Cleverly miss inside and popping him with quick little jabs. Cleverly is just walking into him and grinding away when their arms get caught up, wrestling. Mohammedi is pushed into a corner and cops a big hook to the face but smiles.

Mohammedi didn't come close to winning a round before the 6th.

He's on a roll now, though. Cleverly is bottling this.

 

Round 9

Mohammedi warned for going low. BIG LEFT HOOK by Cleverly. Mohammedi tries to push his opponent's arms down and get some shots in to back him away but Cleverly is imposing his muscle. They spin and Cleverly is tossed into a near faceplant beneath the ropes. Good 1-2 from Mohammedi. The Frenchman just scrapes his gloves from side to side, sweeping them across Cleverly's nose with the little room in which he has to operate. Mohammedi is warned for leading with his head. Cleverly is trying to roll in the pocket but is getting hit with lots of headshots...none hurting him but all scoring clearly.

Round 10

Mohammedi stands in front of Cleverly popping up and down on his knees, flicking out his jab and getting hit with Cleverly's every other time he rises. Cleverly throws a low, slow 1-2 that is caught and leads to a clinch. Mohammedi is slapping on the inside while Cleverly tries to grab him about the waist and carry him to the ropes. Cleverly seems a bit weary and is lazy with his jab. Lead right hand from Cleverly glances but there is no follow-up before the clinch.

Round 11

A bit more cautious watching on the outside this round, with a sluggish pace. Cleverly lands a nice leaping hook-2 combo but otherwise is limited to his one-and-done offensive approach that typifies his whole evening. Mohammedi is ducking under lots of Cleverly jabs and responsible for many of the quick clinches. They're doing a fair job of splitting up themselves without needing to involve Dave Parris. Big counter right hand from Cleverly as Mohammedi tries to press him up against the ropes. Mohammedi lands one of his high slapping hooks, but Cleverly lands another right to seal the round.
