I have just seen on sky sports there is talk of DeGale fighting for a world title on just his 10th pro fight...anybody else heard anything? Whats the thoughts of him going for it so soon??

  2. Was this on ringside? Not seen tonights episode yet.. but its too soon.. There's no rush ffs.. Unless its a world title for a mickey mouse belt.

He'd be fighting Sartison and I think he'd win with few problems.

Probably IBO or something. The only belt holder available at this point is Stieglitz who I'm sure will do his best to avoid such a tough fight.

Yeah he beats Sartison in fight number 10 but then suddenly (as a belt holder) he has to mix with the divisions elite....it's too soon for me....why the rush?

The thing is though, if Sartison doesn't fight DeGale, there's no possible opponent for him who DeGale couldn't beat either, so it's not like DeGale would have to be rushed. Pick up a world title and fight solid opponents whilst maturing before facing Froch, Bute, Ward etc..

I always think that if you're good enough, you're old enough, young enough, experienced enough or whatever else - DeGale has the ability to pick up a world title despite his lack of pro-experience.

IBO titleholder (Chilemba) isn't free either...

Stieglitz (WBO) > like you said, no way!
Sartison (WBA) > also very unlikely.
    Gare (

DeGale-Stieglitz is a good matchup. Both are very hittable, both focus primarily on offense.

Stieglitz' people already jumped at the idea of him fighting Kessler. I'm sure DeGale is willing to travel, he doesn't have much to lose in that particular matchup.

    Make it happen.

not a world title shot, its called a paper title shot

Degale is a good enough fighter to become a proper champion though, i think he should look to get the european title, fight groves, then a good ranked fighter and then try to land a title shot in mid-2012

He'd beat both Sartison (not a real title holder I know) and Stieglitz right now in my opinion, but the problem is that he's not ready for the big guns in the division yet and if he picks up a belt he might get rushed into big fights before he's ready. It's a pity Magee is fighting Bute next as he would have been a perfect next opponent for Degale. In an ideal world James would have spanked Magee, followed it up with Groves then beat a couple of fringe World Class guys like Miranda and Mendy before fighting Stieglitz. He would be ready for the big fights after that, despite having only maybe 14 or 15 fights, but we all know that politics won't allow that to happen.

I felt he was ready for a world title the moment he turned pro.

I know nobody else is going to agree with me, but he's far too good to be a contender for too long. He is ready, give him his shot.
