If the fight happened right now, I'd put a lot of money on DeGale winning this one. Probably the only semi-elite level fighter DeGale would currently beat, but he is something special and despite only having 9 fights, he would be simply too good. A better boxer, a better fighter and too much quality.

    Excellent performance.

What he said! Zero chance...People are knocking Dirrel now but remember Froch barely won if he won at all and AA was completely outclassed until the incident.

So no matter whether think he is a faker or not he has proved with two very good opposition that he is at least an Elite boxer!

"No chance" is ridiculous. Dirrell is the most over rated fighter. And I use the term "fighter" loosely, because Dirrell isn't really one is he? DeGale would take him out. DeGale is the real deal.

Experience doesn't matter. Anyone who seriously thinks Dirrell has shown more skill, has their heads in the cloud. All the best guys he's fought have been absolutely perfect for him stylistically. Against a guy who has more skill, which DeGale does, hands equally as fast, slicker and a better combination puncher, Dirrell would be outclassed.

I know not many people will believe this now and that's fine. Bump this thread in five fights when DeGale is near world level and lets see how opinions have changed.

    Close fight..

Degale looks the part, however, paul smith is not slick enough. Be interesting to see him under fire against someone quick, with power and slick, dirrell has these attributes but no heart. I don't see a defence with degale and paul smith didn't ask any real questions..

Maybe in 10 more fights or so but come on, De Gale has had only 9 fights.

Yes he is talented no doubt but tonight he beat a decent domestic level fighter in Paul Smith.

Dirrell is world class and way above Chunky at the moment.
