Styles make fights though and that's why I give DeGale a massive chance against Dirrell and not the other 168lbers, even Abraham who Dirrell beat. I'd be pretty confident Abraham would beat DeGale but DeGale beats Dirrell. Like I said, Dirrell still has an amateur style and always will do. That is just his style of boxing and that would suit DeGale to a T. Not only is DeGale a more naturally talented fighter, he was the better amateur and would be able to negate everything Dirrell has. Does anyone actually disagree that DeGale is more talented? I know this is a bold prediction and, like I said, feel free to bump this in 5 fights time. I'm confident I'll be proven right.
DeGale is better than both Dirrell and Ward, I think the Brits have the best prospect at SM, sorry to disappoint US.
Dirrell is getting a lot of smack (rightfully), but he's still a top notch fighter. If only he fought positive vs. Frochy, he could've won that fight officially. But DeGale is special. At this point Dirrell would be too much, but in a year or so he might be ready. He's the total package no doubt about that. Just needs to get rid of the tricks of his.
if u mean in the future, yeh he got a good chance because he is a sharp fighter if u mean now This content is protected
I'll admit this thread is a tad disrespectful towards Direll, but don't you think your comments are disrespectful towards Degale? He didn't write anything here, and at least he's an olympic champion. I personally rate his accomplishments thus far (british champion in 9 fights). If you knew anything about this guy you'd have to take your hat off to him for the simple reason that unlike most modern day prize fighters he only wants to fight the toughfest fights. Because of this simple fact there's a high probability that he might fall short along the way, but for me personally I'd happily spend my money to watch Degale fight than many other name brand fighters. Please note - my comments are not directed at Direll - I like him as a fighter.
Indeed. I hope Warren doesn't give DeGale easy opposition because he needs tough fights to help his career, more than any other fighter in recent years that I've seen. He thrives on challenges which is why I think he'll be ready for a title shot in a couple of years. I think people are underestimating Smith. He was ranked 4th in the world and is a good fighter with a tough style. DeGale schooled him. Because Dirrell is easier stylistically, DeGale would beat him already. The ONLY advantage Dirrell has is experience and that's it.
He'd probably talk a lot, run a lot, whine a lot and then cry a lot. DeGale is a special fighter. Dirrell has good physical ability but he doesn't have the skills DeGale currently has. I'm sure nobody would disagree with that. Like I said, Dirrell's only advantage is experience.
Now I can see why us Brits get that stupid hypejob stereotype. DeGale doesn't look good enough for world level, he fought a basic but solid fighter in Smith and people think he's ready to challenge someone like Dirrell?
Yep. I'll happily break down the fight if someone would like to make a pro-Dirrell argument. Still no disagreement that DeGale is more talented, I see.
DeGale just beat a good domestic fighter, Dirrell is fighting the very best at 168. **** all this style bull****, lets wait until DeGale shows this sort of class at a higher level against a better opponent. Look at Cleverly for example, beat Murat and everyone is going crazy about how he'd beat Dawson/Johnson. Then he fights an awkward opponent, doesn't look great and now he's suddenly been ' exposed '. DeGale's talent is undeniable. He was a great amateur and already looks great being a 9-fight novice. However he slaps a little too much and I question whether McDonnell can take him to the top.
