I thought it was completely unfair treatment. Hope he does well for himself and shuts these fools up. He really needs to adapt quickly, however.
I hope he does well also, but when you talk big you need to deliver. He failed big time against a total bum.
He didn't fail big time at all. He looked like a guy that hadn't made full adaptation to the pros yet. This coming from a stage where he was completely and 100% amateur orientated in his style. He was against a guy that stood in his shell and did nothing, and DeGale is a counterpuncher. All things considered it was not impressive but not a fail, and certainly not deserving of boos as DeGale was the only one fighting. It was disgraceful treatment for a gold medalist.
I know what you are saying, and no it wasn't good to see him booed in his first fight, but you ought to be stopping guys like that - regardless of styles.
And because he didn't stop him people throw their toys out the pram and its justified? First fight? It was immature stuff from a bunch of drunks. DeGale won gold medal for his country. Frankie Gavin couldn't even have the dedication to make weight, or at least have the forsight to acknowledge he should fight a weight up. And who gets booed?
Don't think Frankie Gavin can be blamed for that, apparently it was the British team that insisted he make weight as they did not want two guys in the same weight class. Frankies team had already reported that he was having real trouble making that weight anymore but the Brit team did not want to know. As to DeGale if your gonna be a cocky ****er then be ready to take some ****. First pro fight he did average I hope he improves cause he has talent.
Take some **** yes, but at the right time and place. i.e. after the fight in the newspaper, or in his entrance, whatever. Booing a guy doing his job is not on, especially when he didn't do anything at all wrong except not knock the dude out.
