I decided myself not to jump on the hate bandwagon i can see why people have taken a dislike to hime but at the same time hes only young most boxers his age dont get anywhere near the exposure... So my question is what would Degale have to do to win over the british public?
I'm not hating him either. I'm on the DeGale fan train as by simply opposing these clowns I am correct. I'm sure if he knocked his next 19 opponents out and won British and European honours everybody would be crawling up his backside and proclaiming him the man to dethrone Pavlik. Such is the fickle nature of fans.
Really trying to like him but he acts like a twat. I'm going to reserve judgement on him for another few fights. Exactly like Gaz says one of those and he would be fine
People are so quick to hate people. There's really no need. I know he's cocky but so what? Many boxers are. Give the lad a chance.
I dont hate the guy and dont understand all the dislike for the him.ok his debut was not the best but he won despite the pressure placed on him as the gold winner. He will improve with time and i think will be a success. His career has only just started and he has plenty of time to win people over.
people were slagging him off after his first Olympic fight. he has got that young london cockiness about him that many do not like. i think he is clearly a skilled boxer and his performance in his 1st fight was good, most are making it out to be awful, which it quite clearly was not. i think the fact that Gavin barley came through, looked nackerd and got cut and everyone praises his, but DeGale drifts through the 4 rounds at a canter. i think DeGale can win the fans over the same way eubank did, by going out on his shield, prooving his heart and beating a domestic rival. Luckily he has 3 guys, Jeffries, Groves and Sutherland that most deem "tougher" than degale already.
Eubank won people over towards the end of his career by taking his lumps. If Degale has to go to those measures before he hits 30 then something will be seriously wrong with his career.
Stop trying to be something he is not Saying Haye is jealous of him, etc, - before he has ever fought a pro fight he is slagging off a Undisputed Champion Dancing to the ring like Naseem Hamed in Madison Square Garden Main Event - then proceeding to fight like a pansy against a bum in a 4 round novice fight People went through the Olympic Champion turns pro and then talks a load of **** he cant back up and acts like s self proclaimed super star in waiting and then misreably fails to deliever in Audley Harrison people dont want to go through all that bull**** again Degale is a example of someone who thinks he is big cheese but people sense he is just a twat who is nowhere near as good as he thinks as a pro
He's had one fight in which IMO he didn't look great, and he doesn't have a very good style for the pro game. He's also a massive tosser. I don't mind a bit of cockiness ala Haye or Eubank, but I don't think he has the skills to back it up.
People loved Eubanks because he simply took the digs an accepted victory along with defeat... First pro-fight pple were looking for entertainment (ie a stoppage like all the other olympians) from a guy who had been so sure of himself... Respect always comes with time.....Trust me
DeGale loves himself - he proclaimed himself better looking than glamour boy David Haye he also said the worst part of becoming a boxer was getting a boxers flat nose that will spoil his pretty boy good looks someone also said on here at the time - maybe it was TFFP or GazOC - he spent his debut fight more concerned with how he looked rather than putting good solid skills into practice for a solid pro performance thats DeGale all over he is more about style than substance he is always concerned about money than fighting - a bad sign he is the type of fighter the world title he will want to aim to win will be whatever looks cosmetically the best hanging over his shoulder vanity he is crap
that was a disappointing debut. no point in saying otherwise. he should have done what gavin done and go for the stoppage. if he'd gone for it a bit more and not got it then fair enuff. it was a pro debut and a lot of people were paying attention. in the pro's u have to sell yaself. :deal
