I think that Corbett would beat Jeanette, but lose to McVea.

I don't think that many fighters in history, could have won a boxing match with Corbett, without a major reach advantage.

A lot however, could have beaten him on power!

Impossible to call, probable my favourite era of boxing and I'm huge fans of Jeanette and McVea, but something tells me Corbett might have a but to much savvy for McVea. At the same time I could definitely see Sam sparking him. Jeanette vs Corbett would be a chess match at range and a bit of a toss up if you ask me.

McVey was crude and limited on film. And disappointing in news reads, he was not as tough as you initially might think, retreating from exchanges and sometimes complaining to the referee. Corbett, fast and skilled, and pretty durable, taking Choynski's and Jackson's best for example over the course of long fights. Corbett UD here.

Jeannette was good, but inconstant losing to the likes of Ferguson, Clark ( similar in some ways to Corbett, but much smaller ) and Thompson in what can be viewed as his prime years. I'm going to split my vote. 15 rounds and under, Corbett wins. 25 rounds and over, Jeannette superior stamina would come into play and I'd pick him.

I have a long list of 50+ historian's, fighters, and polls raking fighters. Not one of them has Jeannette over Corbett. Maybe one or two of the 50 has McVey over Corbett. So there you have it.

McVey took a prolonged beating from Johnson for 20rds before being stopped.Johnson said he was the toughest man he ever fought. McVey's 49rd bout with Jeannette is legendary.
Langford said McVey is one tough son of a *****.I'll take their opinion over yours.
Choynski was a comparative novice20 years old when he fought Corbett. Do you think he was the puncher he would be later?
    Jeannette has wins over
    Langford
    McVey
    Clark
    Carpentier
    Bell
    + 2 draws withWills
    McVey was wins over
    Jeanette
    Langford
    Bell
    Martin
    Clark
    + several draws with Wills
Q What is Corbett's best win? A. John L Sullivan fat, alcoholic, inactive for 3 and a half years, and a month off 34 years old!
Corbett was kod by one left hook to the body by a man weighing157lbs McVey's best punch was his left hook.
    Corbett's record is very weak.
    20 fights 12 wins 4 losses,2 no contests and 2 draws.

And Johnson was not a puncher, certainly not when he meet Sam Mcvey! In all of Johnson matches vs the green McVey, Jeannette, or the 156 pound Langford ( Johnson must have over 10 ) the lone KO is over McVey, when he was very tired in the 20th round. That's it.

Your double standards remain king here, as you are the guy who called Choysnki the hardest hitter of the times. Peter Jackson could punch. Neither could stop Corbett. Fitz did it, but they called him a boxing master which is something McVey never was close to being.

I urge you to watch McVey vs. Battling Jim Johnson on film. Battling Jim ( less experienced and with a spotty record ) gets the better of it. McVey only has a left hook. He could not jab at all, according to Langford because he was bow armed.

I never called Choynski anything, fighters gave him that title , not me! I've seen the McVey Johnson clip all the couple of seconds of it and I've enough sense not to form a conclusion on a fighter based on such scanty evidence.
Johnson was not a puncher when he met McVey?You do know he knocked Martin senseless for nearly 15 minutes and the police held him in case he did not recover?
    How many people ko'd McVey?
Langford managed it twice in umpteen tries.
Wills turned the trick over a past prime Sam
Jeannette outlasted him until Sam's eyes were swollen shut.
    Johnson knocked him out.

I'll ask you one more time. WHAT IS CORBETT's BEST WIN?

BS, you have said Choynski was the best hitter of the times here before.

I can quote your own words and embarrass you if I choose.

You also said Johnson wasn't a big hitter. I'd debating a person here with the memory of goldfish!

Corbett's best wins are McCoy, Choynski, Kilrain, Sullivan, and Mitchell.

All FIVE of these men are in the boxing hall of fame.

Might they get distracted by his butt cheeks long enough for Corbett to KO them?

    Yes you find them!

McCoy was a lhvy and this might have been fix.
    Choynski was a novice.
Kilrainwas a bare knuckle fighter who did **** all under Queensberry rules .Sullivan was all but 34 years old a drunk and hadnt fought in 3and a half years.
Mitchell was a middleweight bareknuckler and past it.

You were talking earlier about lists of experts ranking the best heavyweights of all time and how you have loads of them.Got any lists that any of those five are on?lol

McCoy is probably his best KO win if you think It's legit, which I do. To me his power seemed good against smaller opponents, but less so as they got bigger, it could also be because he was less aggressive against bigger ones.
