I favour Corbett. Both had a good reflexive defence, however I think Corbett could use it much better to set up offence, whereas Stribling largely just jabbed off of it, and while more offensive was more cumbersome and vulnerable. I also think Corbett was more advanced on the inside, whereas Stribling seemed to maul and smother his own work more.
from watching them on video, it doesn't look like anybody would get hurt. Stribling and Corbett are two of the worst I've seen on video, but there is a lot of competition for the absolute worst, Baer, Galento, Willard...and Phil Scott. This content is protected Vs. Not sure why you bring up Phil Scott, I included his training because it's nice to have as build up, but he was far from a top guy, maybe equivelent to a Sam Sexton If only these guys know how to throw punches at mid range to hide their horrific slowness, while stumbling about off balance on the spot, like a modern top 10 heavyweight. https://streamable.com/q17iw Young Stribling was never a champion, he was an ok contender who failed when he stepped up to the top level, and people have been critisizing Corbett for years, you can see it in decade plus old threads, with people defending him in the minority, and plenty of turn of the century boxers have far stronger records, and are held in much higher regard, near universally. You're not challenging an orthadoxy, or coming up with anything new, you're just spamming the same rubbish over and over in multiple threads. You're not even backing up your old arguments with any new information, or finding anything that suggests any passing effort to learn about boxing history. If the topic doesn't interest you, there are plenty other places to post.
I thought it was a good match up and I'm not normally interested in fantasy fights. Only reason I've not posted a fan fiction for how it goes is I'm still very much on the fence in regard to Corbett.
I ran them through TBCB 15 times Young 6rd KO draw Young pts 15rd Young, James was DQ'd James UD 15rd Young SD 15rd Young 11rd KO Young MD 15rds Young MD 15 rds James MD 15rds James UD 12rds Young 1st rnd TKO Young SD 12rds Young SD 10rds Young 7 KO 15rds It's kind of interesting. According to TBCB they wouldn't likely draw even though they are fairly evenly matched. James being DQ'd is about as likely as a draw and Young being DQ'd is very unlikely. There's a decent chance Young wins by stoppage, and there's a slim chance James wins by dominant UD, but more often than not Young will edge it with a split or majority decision.
Neat. Though I suspect it overrates Stribling's power somewhat based off his large number of KO's. I really doubt Stribling could stop Corbett, I mean Fitz and Jeffries did it, but neither exactly had an easy time doing it, and I don't think Stribling was as hard hitting as them, especially not Fitz.
