He was, against faster opponent in Corbett. He wasn't the same against other opponents. Fitz was very versatile fighter with variety of styles. He outboxed Dempsey and Garnder.

Major as in dangerous challengers, not gimmee defences against no hopers such as Munroe and Finnegan or 4 round exhibitions such as against Griffin none of which he trained seriously for spending more time fishing than fighting. At 28 years old Jeffries defended against Corbett, Jeffries was 210lbs.

219 for fitzsimmons or 224 for jack munroe ,219 for choynski, 218 for peter jackson. And he weighed even at 240 in his prime.
Yes. Jeffries was a natural 220 pounder in shape without being inflated of muscle

Dempsey was a past it small middleweight 147lbs. Gardner was a small light heavy 168lbs with negligible power.

No 220lbs in major title defences as I said.
Do you seriously think I would give you an opening to reply and win the point ,if I didn't already know the answer?

Why do you debate it? Is a nonsense. Just admit that jeffries was a 220 pounder and forget this nonsense of "major"fights. Were not fitz or jackson big fights? Where is the difference between 219 and 220 pounds? Please mate..

I've asked you in which serious defences he came in at 220lbs and you cannot give one example. All you can offer is his weight when he fought no hopers whom he did not take seriously nor train properly for. Jeffries was a six foot man whose best weight was 212/218lbs.Holyfield pushed back Tyson he would do the same to Jeffries,we judge fighters on what they actually did and where not on some hypothetical chimera/facsimile of them.Bowe batters him,not just because he was small, because his defence was very leaky and he reiled on his durability and his ability to absorb punishment, gradually wearing down his older and smaller opponents. That would not work against a more skilled, prime ,bigger guy,who carried enough power to get anyone's respect and make them reluctant to try and walk through their shots.
ps If you think the relic of Peter Jackson was a dangerous opponent by the time he fought Jeffries I suggest you look him up.

Bob fitzsimmons no hoper lmao. Jeffries weighed 219 pounds against him. The only problem is that you never will admit when you are wrong

Being 219 lbs is certainly enough to believe that he fought in his prime in 220 lbs range. Seriously, boxing fans are the only ones who think that 1 pound matters anything. 1 pound can be gained or lost within a few hours.
