Given Jeff's lack of early round ko's, i could imagine Ward winning a 12 round decision. However, in a fight to finish, Big Jeff tko's Ward/
Jeffries would manhandle Ward. Ward's strategy is based in large part on him being the bigger, stronger man. He is nowhere near as strong as Jeffries. And, from all accounts I have read, Ward is no more athletic either.
The reason he retired 32-0 is because he was multi dimensional, he could box and move just as good as he could inside fight, he had exceptional timing, I would pick Ward to win on points, but it would always be dangerous
If it's 15 rounds, then I take Ward in a bruising encounter. Once we start going on in to the 20 and up fights, then I'm gonna say Jeffries wears him down for a ko.
Strange paring ! borders on the ridiculous in some ways, not worth the input on my part, but you guys go ahead. keep well.
Jeffries dominates and closes Ward down. If this goes 12-15 it might go the distance for an easy points win, but Jeffries could finish it at any time after the 6th. Old time fighters were iron willed and could go 50 rounds, so they paced and wore the other man out. Jeffries always gave sustained beatings. I doubt Ward could do anyting after the 6th round except try to survive.
Jeffries spent his career fighting smaller men. Ward would be one of his bigger opponents. That's not the case with Ali.
Worse fighters than Ward, of the same size, gave Jeffries fits. Ward wide decision unless this is fought in Jeffries time when they would never give it to him, Irish blood included.
Ward would not be coming in at 168lbs or 175lbs, he would be coming in at like 188lbs which is what he rehydrated to anyway after he weighed in at at 175lbs, Bob Fitzsimmons weighed like 174lbs against Jeffries and that is what he would've came in at, and that was heavy for fitzsimmons who has came it at like 158lbs for some fights, I firmly believe that Fitzsimmons could make 147lbs today with before day weigh ins, James J Corbett is the same size as Ward if not smaller in natural size
Ward has a similar auling style in some ways to Jeffries. Id say Ward would do well at first but the longer the fight goes on, the worse for Ward. I might pick Ward over 6-8 rounds but Jeffries in anything over 10.
