I wasn't really referring to Jeff's fight with Choynski, only his belief (that he repeated several times in his life) that Choynski was the hardest puncher he faced. I'm pretty confident in saying Wilder hits harder than Choynski.
Do you not think his opinion was coloured by the fact he was so inexperienced when he fought Choynski?
Probably the first time I've ever said this about Wilder, but I think he outboxes him and Stops him in the 6th.
Possibly, though quite a few guys from that era stated that Choynski could hit hard (like Johnson) so it's not an outrageous choice. If not Choynski, then who would be the hardest puncher Jeff fought? Fitzsimmons? Either way, I don't think fighting them could prepare him for Wilder.
Nope he reiterated it later in life.Choynski smashed his bottom lip through his front teeth and it had to be scissored away. Jeffries had 52pounds on the 167lbs Choynski.
I don't get it, Jeffries as a novice almost beat Choynski who was a great fighter in his prime. He floored him multiple times, didn't he? Who cares that Choynski was small? I'd be more impressed with Wilder drawing with Choynski in his 6th fight than winning against no hopers for half of his fight.
Tyson Fury and David Haye knows more about boxing than yourself, have both been in the ring with Wilder and both label Wilder as the hardest hitter of all time.
I just watched the Ruhlin fight, Jeffries throws no combinations at all. He walks forward with a low guard and throws single left hooks. He's constantly open to the right hand
I take it you got Fury and Wilder muddled? Wilder's proved it against opponents comparable to Shavers and no ones questioning his power. Like Ali praising Shavers power you've got Haye and Fury praising Wilder's. Even AJ thought Wilder wouldn't be able to match his KO 7 against Breazeale. Wilder wrecked him in a round.
