Wilder's competition certainly hasn't been anything to shout about, but one thing you can say for it, they were all genuine heavyweights. They weren't older, past prime men coming off of several years inactivity either. Has Wilder defended his title against anyone as bad as Jack Munroe 7-0-2 John Finnegan 4-2-4
We have a pretty good idea. He weighed 222.5Ibs on 25th of August, as reported in The San Francisco Cali on 26th of August
Wilder scores 2 knock downs and gets a draw to a man 50 lbs heavier whose also younger and undefeated, gets bashed and criticized. Jefferies scored a draw with a man 50 lbs lighter who was older than him and had several losses, gets praised. Hmmm, but nobody is being biased here right?
And those three lasted a combined three rounds. Your going on Box Rec, which is very incomplete for older records. Monroe ( 215 pounds for the fight, ) at the time was an undefeated contender. Jeffries was the only man to stop him. I've seen non contender not only go may rounds with Wilder, but also make him look bad.
Mcvey is a hater on this topic and frequently makes mistakes. Don't take what he says at face value. He's wrong again. Lol 41.
How many times have you seen Jeffries fight again? How did Jeffries look when he went 9 with Henry Baker? How did Jeffries look when he went the distace with Dan Long, who never won a fight? How did Jeffries look when he went 10 rounds with Bob Armstrong? Is this thread still going on? A guy who fought 160 and 170 pounders more than 120 years ago, who never faced anyone bigger than him, who only had 20 fights or so and couldn't even win all those, who we only have a couple minutes of film showing him actually winning against anyone ... and even in that footage he doesn't look like much of anything at all ... who was also known for taking bad beatings even in the most rudimentary of eras ... Against the biggest puncher in heavyweight history who routinely blew out guys who outweighed him by 20, 30 and 40 pounds? Everyone knows what the right answer is. And it ain't Jeffries. Time to put the ridiculous hate aside. It's getting embarrassing. Seriously.
There seem to have been a lot of heavyweights who obviously hit like a truck, but can't put away top ten guys. Look at guys like Williams or Bruno for example. The question for me with Wilder, was not can he hit hard, but is he another Williams or Bruno.
Name all the guys who were rated by Ring when Jeffries faced them? Using your own criteria, I think Wilder stopped more.
