Mike Tyson as a youngster had better head movement, footwork, jab, speed, combination punching, probably a better chin, more punch variety and was better overall defense. To say that Kirkland, at this stage of his career, has better skills than a young Mike Tyson is boxing blasphemy.

Tyson never jabbed? I suppose the first Tyson fight you saw was against Lennox.

First off never compare him to tyson and for saying he has better boxing skills than tyson had.. you should shoot yourself in the head...secondly kirkland got dropped by a can back in 07 on espn

Yo, u definitely need to watch some old Tyson fights! Tyson had alot of skill. Very hard to hit in his prime, cut off the ring good, and a very underated jab. Tyson was a BEAST!!! There are very few aggresive fighters out now with the skills of a prime Tyson!

Nobody knocks out all their opponents, and Ossie Duran is hardly a can.

These Kirkland-Tyson comparisons are asinine. They only things they had in common are their build and the fact that they attack opponents hard. Tyson was a very good technical boxer. Go watch his early fights and you'll see there's a huge difference. His footwork and defense were a thousand times better than Kirkland's, as was his offensive variety. On the other hand, Kirkland seems to have better heart and stamina than Tyson.

Exciting fighter and tenacious as hell, but it's obvious he has glaring weaknesses. Pushes his punches against a moving target, doesn't have any head movement, open to counters, etc. He'll get a title, though.

Imo he gets over worked ..Though I do agree you should be in tip top shape to take punches I always felt that that the way he fights will end up getting him KO ed ..I would like for him to improve on some more fundimentals ..I don't doubt the stamina but the skill is where he needs fine tuning and Anne Wolfe seems better at conditioning more so than a lead trainer ..
