Tyson was no better with his sparring partners he liked to practice hurting them! Seemed like he enjoyed it. Its just as wrong morally as it is here yet nobody ever seems to mention that. Double standards?

They are building that beast mentality.
"Never let your opponent off the hook. Got him hurt ? **** him up ! "

Sparring is dangerous, and Kirkland gains nothing from beating someone up. In sparring when you have someone rocked like that, the best thing to do is take the chance to work on your weaker points, box on the back foot etc.

That guy could have been seriously hurt. Not just dropped, but really badly hurt.

Nonetheless, I do like Kirkland's fighting style, his jabs are like straight rights.

I imagine the lack of conditioning in jail and having to cut weight after it would have had an effect on his punch resistance. He did get dropped before jail too though, by Allen Conyers. Interestingly, every time Kirkland has been dropped was in the first round.

The sparring footage is pretty unpleasant, but in fairness to Kirkland he is doing what his trainer tells him to do.

I see this all the time at the gym, some fighters do this. What do you think SRL was doing to sparring partners when he was preparing for Hagler?

What do you think Tyson did to his sparring partners?

Who really cares what boxers do as long as it works and they perform?

They should really have had that stopped. It hardly improved his timing or helped with things he was practising - he just knocked the **** outa the guy and he didnt need to do that.

Hardly anyone has ANYTHING to do with real boxing on this site.

I have had my ass kicked in sparring a few times too lol!

Sparring = practise for a REAL boxing match.
