Kirkland can't accomplish anything in the sport now. He's done!

    Im practically certain he doesnt.

Fighters like Kirkland rely on activity to be at their best.

It will be over 4 years since hes fought. Over 5 since his last win. And hes approaching his mid 30s.

    Hes done, imo.

    He will either

    - Win a couple of gimme fights against nobody's and retire again.
    - Win a couple of gimme and lose to a gatekeeper or young prospect
    - Win a couple of gimme fights and be fed to a champion as a name.

Either way... I'll be shocked if he ever registers another win over a legit contender again, let alone a champion.

But yes, I hope Im wrong. I seriously doubt it though.

Kirkland in his mid-30's after four years off? If I manage or promote a prospect who I view as a puncher, I'm trying to arrange a match with Kirkland in the next 6 months.

I guess he was in a tough spot, the only one to motivate him was probably doing too much damage in their training sessions. Wish I knew how he fell out with Ann and or Pops.

I'll back him until, but gotta feeling that until is around the corner...

This was his second comeback fight after a two year absence. Next up was Ishida.

Kirkland will be taken out by a half decent journeyman at this point.

I think Khan obliterates him at this point (can't believe I'm saying that).

..yeah, Kirkland's way more shot...even though Khan was the smaller and chinnier (and p4p less powerful) glass cannon in their primes.

I'm thinking if it is a comeback, they have to keep him away from anyone with any semblance of a skillset until he gets some type of money fight or the comeback is gonna be derailed quickly. He's a short, volume puncher with no defense and no chin to speak of. And he's like 35-36.

I don't know if his chin is all that bad,,,he simply serves it up on a platter to be hit by any haymaker thrown. Watching his fights can be painful, no footwork, bad balance , chin up. He seems to me to be a what if guy, what if he seriously learned his craft, and what if he trained like a professional fighter.

I think we've all seen enough of him to know it's not steel. Some of it definitely is because he leaves himself prone to big shots while trying to land his own. But There's some guys that have taken shots from other guys that he's fought and have simply dismissed shots that ended him. I think he's absolutely a what if guy (as in better defensively, better trained), but then again if he were those, he wouldn't be the offensive warrior he was.
