James Kirkland has reportedly signed a 3 year deal with 50 Cent's SMS Promotions, he could possible fight Cotto in his first fight under SMS on HBO should Cotto beat Rodriguez.
Looks a good move by Kirkland he can fight on both GBP & Top Rank bills & get it on with the likes of Martirosyan, Trout, Canelo, Molina, Martinez or GGG.

Cotto vs Kirkland i wouldn't mind seeing...I would have a big edge on Cotto on this fight unless he does horrible in his fight against Rodriguez since kirkland's layoff/inactivity.

Interesting I like the move... but seeing how well Gamboa's career has gone since signing with Fif, I'm not too sure???

Glad for Kirkland tho... Just happy he aint wasting "it"

i think gamboa is just laying low becuz of the scandles. After it cools down/off he will start fighting three times a year again or so we hope since his age is going up.

I think Kirkland should have at least two fights before even thinking about Cotto, unless he's just looking for one payday.

Ideally he'd get back in the ring quickly and stay active but looking at how Gamboa's career has stalled, I won't hold my breath on that.

Cotto's lost his power, who/when was his last legit KO?

Kirkland vs Cotto would be a fight that I would like to see.

Like someone else mentioned already, James needs to have a couple of fights before stepping in the ring with Cotto.

Only thing Kirkland has over Cotto is, power. I favor Miguel by UD or late round tko.

I would also love to see a rematch between Angulo and Kirkland.

Kirkland is not a top fighter and never will be. He barely survived Angulo and it took him 5 rounds to stop a completely winded "El Perro"

Cotto easily outboxes him in a shutout.

Rematch with Molina... unless Molina is going to avenge his "draw" with Lara first

Yup. Cotto still has A-level skills and Kirkland's chin is a china cabinet.

But can Kirkland stay out of jail long enough to even make this fight happen?

Looks like he really does not like boxing or want to box anymore

I hope he hasn't lost his edge with this inactivity and no more Wolfe. He was a hell of an exciting fighter even if he's mentally a basketcase. Thing is, what does HBO do with a guy at 154? GB has 90% of all the relevant JMW's and he's totally alienated himself from them.

    Hope you like MW James?
