Absolute bull****. Kirkland is a street punk and always will be one. Ann & Pops gave him 3 chances he crapped on them every time. He was lucky he didn't get put away for life. Best part is Anne herself could probably kick Kirklands punk ass. I 'll lay odds he's back inside again within 12 months

Kirkland signed to SMS who have a strong affiliation with TR, so expect Kirkland to be put in with the likes of Tapia, Cotto, Rodriguez, Martirosyan & Andrade if he stays at 154,
I can see him moving to 160 & having good fights with Martinez, GGG, Braker, Murray, Lee, Chavez Jr, Vera x2, Sturm & Macklin all on HBO.

Well let's wait and see on the 'good fights' bit. Kirkland may have bags of talent, but if his attitude ain't right, he might win a coupla of the smaller fights but ain't gonna go far.

TBH I also wouldn't be surprised if he's back inside before long, though I hope he can keep his s#it together. Maybe signing with SMS will mark some kinda tuning point for him.

I can see him moving up to 160 and getting half way killed by GGG.

    Kirkland ain't all that good.

youre correct but the logic still applies. james has the ability to ruin a fighter especially an undefeated one.

i dont understand the logic of top rank.

He has a Glass Jaw and would have to win a few fights to keep fighting the other fighters at 154 or 160. I don't see him being able to do that his Chin is a huge liability and add the layoff and it is disaster waiting to happen.

Win or lose, he'll be heading right back to jail soon enough.
Hasn't got the chin to go far in boxing anyway.

agreed, because james is a real fighter. both lara and kirkland showed championship mettle coming off their angulo knockdowns to secure ko wins.

if james can tighten up his defense he has the ability to beat anyone at 154 because he has one punch power, good workrate and the stamina to go 12 hard.

kirkland was on pace to throw 630 punches against molina even with two tears in his right shoulder.

    Ballsy move for both fighters...
Kirkland coming off a long layoff to face a fighter being groomed as a possible top guy.
Tapia on the other hand is also putting it all on the line taking on a very dangerous fighter who is prob hungry as ****.

Got to love the classic "Crossroads" fight.

I don't know that Kirkland is such a sure thing here. I'm a bit surprised at the poll.

top rank has a lot of prospect...they want to weed out who's real or fraud.

And all the talk about his chin is foolish.

He was not ready for Ishida after 2 years in jail....he had no sparring and that "gym" he was training in was not good enough for fighting chickens.

    GBP sold James out:deal

He was a threat to their new savior Canelito Alvarez and they shelved him.

James was constantly told he'd get a title shot after this guy...then that guy.
He's still young and his shoulder is repaired for the first time in his career.

He's going to be a force for sure.
