Agreed. Some would still say Canelo, and supposedly the winner of this has to fight Vanes afterwards (another prospect/contender put of the way) so if Molina can keep running the gauntlet you'd hope he would fight Canelo. Then we could really see who the number 1 is. Then again, will Floyd stay at the weight after Cotto? Depending on whether he fancies it, we could see him take Alvarez out of the equation himself.
I'd prefer it if Molina got to Alvarez before Cotto, but I could see Floyd fighting Alvarez in a big one in 2013. I guess the winner of that would be the consensus number 1, and I can honestly see Molina never reaching number 1 anytime soon because he wont get the opportunity to fight the top opponents. That said, he's got to go through Kirkland first :yep
Bloody hell. Tell me you aren't the types who think "Oh, big name - should automatically be a 12-rounder (regardless of whether there's even anything on the line to substantiate it being 12, ie a belt or a final eliminator, etc.)" :-( If you aren't holding onto a trinket - any trinket - or challenging for one...or vying for the mandatory spot to then go on to challenge for one ...then you're boxing a maximum of ten ****ing rounds. Simple as that. Neither of them happens to have any piece of the alphabet pie (assuming Kirkland didn't feel arsed to bother paying the WBC their fees for that stuffed carnival prize he got for beating Angulo), or a sufficient mutual ranking to be participating in an eliminator. So, ten. As it ought to be.
Seeing as this is the thread where it's at yep), Nate Campbell is fighting Victor Cayo this weekend. I honestly reckon whoevers more assed about the fight will win it, even though Campbell is shot, he put in a good performance vs Danny Garcia recently, and I can see Cayo coming in with his head down after just wilting mentally and physically vs Peterson. Not an easy one for Cayo that. Also Yordenis Ugas has a sink or swim bout vs Juan Garcia, who is apparently fairly decent. Might be the end of Yugas' unbeaten run this weekend, I certainly wouldn't be surprised, he's going nowhere fast based on recent performances.
Well, egg's on my face. This IS somehow an eliminator. Then it makes no sense for it to not be 12. :?
A lot of confused people here. 10 round, ''semi-final'' eliminator. Did NOBODY read the OP?!
Can see this one going the way of Kirkland after a close decision. Molina can take a good punch and has excellent work rate, especially on the inside and to the body. Kirkland however will land the more eye-catching blows and draw Molina into a bloody brawl. A fight that will be fought in a phonebooth, with Kirkland just about edging it and even hurting Molina a few times. But, Molina will get a second win and take a few of the mid-rounds after taking the best of Kirklands hooks and uppercuts, but down the home-straight I can see Kirkland just about edging it in terms of punch-output after figuring out "I can't just walk through this guy".
If I am honest I want technical violence from the main event and some raw violence from the chief support.
Off-topic like but it's the same card. Morales came in at 142 - fights still on but Garcia will get some extra $$$ and Erik loses the belt. Kirkland and Molina both 153 3/4. It's not a proper final eliminator though is it? :think. Kirkland is ranked no.2, Molina 15 (with the WBC). I don't know why they've kept Vanes at 1. He's a wanker who bitched out of the Angulo fight. Anyway, forget that. This should be an awesome weekend of boxing :happy. Judah/Paris intrigues me :think
