Molina was spoiling hugely but Kirkland looked really flat and unsettled. He needs to rematch Molina to prove he has evolved.

That is James Kirkland at his best IMO, he's just an extremely limited fighter.

As it turned out it was 12-rounder and had it been 10 rounds Molina would have won.

  5. If you've got a half decent beard, a bit of stamina and can throw a right hand.... Kirkland is yours for the taking.

Tuck your chin somewhere near your left shoulder and just lead with the right all night.

    120-108 x3.

    Sorted.

The commentry team jumped on that but I disagree. His punches did not look as hard and they did not look as spiteful. He was letting himself getting pushed around to timewaste and smother dangerous punches. He was not going to the body nearly enough.

Kirkland can come back from this fight better. It was a very poor showing but Kirkland deserves more credit. He has a good engine, is strong, powerful and quite fast. He isn't too bad technically, he actually moves his head, works off a jab etc He just got it wrong mentally and strategically, and this is why he can do better.

Hopefully an immediate rematch due to the controversial ending means he can put in a better performance.

I agree that Kirkland looked slow, he seemed too careful and like the commentators said didnt show the aggression that he needs as he IS a limited fighter. I haven't seen Molinas other fights but have heard he did well against Lara and Jr so he must be at the top of the division if not the no.1. Doubt an immediate rematch is a good decision for kirkland even though I feel he could do better a second time round, but it should happen and all boxing fans see that as a win for Molina.

Actually, he'd have lost by DQ10.

"You can't be saved by the bell in any round including the (10th/12th) and final round.

    Jim!"

Schorle still would have applied the count, and still would have made his call about disqualifying the corner (although they'd have been entering thinking the fight was over rather than entering to set up the stool to prepare for the 11th)

Molina was winning the fight. If Molina was a hard puncher he would have knocked Kirkland out! Good thing Kirkland had help from the referee!
