James Kirkland vs. Joel Julio

Where did you read this? This sounds like a definite candidate for FOTY.

Julio will lose. I cant see him handling Kirkland's pressure. Julio can punch but he is not a smart fighter.

 

I agree and this would be mos def be a fight of the year candidate.

 

Joel also fights at a methodical pace. If Kirklands big country ass gets that adrenaline going he is not getting knocked out by Joel. He can punch himself and he was not even hurt when he was knocked down and he fights harder when hurt. That will have an effect on Joel who is still greenish to me. He hits Kirkland with a good shot or combo and he comes at him more aggresive. I put that being a factor over Joel's ok power shots.

 

He was stunned but I told my girl that kirkland was going to knock the other dude out even at the moment when he got put on his ass. I knew he would get up and fight harder and recover quick. He is a adrenaline type fighter and it is hard to keep a guy like that down. She laughed at me and thought he was done...Well the results speak.

 

Julio might not be a smart fighter, but he is Willie ****ing Pep compared to Kirkland. Don't get me wrong. I like both guys, and they make for some damn entertaining fights. But I can't name a prospect at the moment who gets hit as much as Kirkland. Did you see how atrocious his defense was in the Said fight?

 

This is a GREAT fight that I really hope comes together. Def has a classic BAD feeling to it.

 

Well, he makes up for it a little with his ferioucity. That can play a big role on a fighter that is mentally weak and cant handle pressure situations. Sure you can catch kirkland with some good shots. But are you going to be able to do it enough to stop him? Are you going to put him out with one shot. Is he going to keep coming at you throwing hurtfull punches? Hell yes he is. Julio is not no Willie Pep to nobody. He is good at setting up his shots in a CONTROLLED pace. He is kind of slow as well. He would get unravelled if Kirkland goes after him. I tell you that much. His defense is not all that great either.

Jesus, this fight would be explosive. I like Kirkland better overall, but Julio projects to do well against that style.

I really hope this bout happens, but I think it's a little early for it and it probably won't.
