And I agree, they should throw his ass right back in there with him, it will show what he's really made of at this point, in the sense that it's hard to reverse a verdict in the second fight (most of the time), and especially against a guy who brutally gave you your first loss.

    This will be interesting.

True indeed. i was a rooting for him against Quintana. He was a ESPN prospect at one point.

This is what I was thinking. Didnt he challenge for a title at like 140 though?

Well that could be because Sato's opponent was 14-12 going into the fight. But I cant be sure. There are so many good fighters in Japan these days that I guess it's impossible for all of them to gain enough popularity enough for them to gain television time

and the fight before that he got rocked! that's what i'm saying. CAse study for the checkers. The guy now can't take a shot from a former super welterweight who has 6 ko's wtf?

i think garcia would be the perfect coach for him, he teaches aggressive fighters to control themselves, move their heads, defend themselves and throw shorter punches.

but if his chin really is gone i can't see what anyone can do for him.

Nah, he's campaigned at only light middleweight and middleweight his entire pro career. All his title bouts (and the majority overall) have been at 154.

There were also persistent rumors that a lot of Ishida's title wins were robberies and that he was steered toward his interim WBA championship opportunities under fishy circumstances. He may not be very popular in Japan, where they value candor and dealing on the level.

    :thumbsup Yep, this.

    Worst chin of 2011 easy.

Wonder if he even has a mandible, or if somehow he was born without one. :huh

Yup, Look what he was able to do with Brandon. i think that's a good match. Shadeed Suluki could be a good style match up for him also.

i like kirkland and it was very disappointing to see him lose the way that he did.... BUT i think immediate re-match should be a good way to see if the loss was just an off night or if he really wasn't as good as he was made out to be. I hope he tweeks some of his mechanics and improves that defense or else he's gonna get TKO'd again. :-(

I was actually browsing some of the japanese news papir sites the day after his big win. There were no clue or indication of him having just won the biggest fight of his life and in a weight division Jap's arent supposed to win in.
    You'd think they'd be excited.
