Looks like this fight is on the card with Stevenson-Fonfara on HBO May 24. Everything is suppose to be finalized this week.
Kirkland by KO. He will be giving up even more height and reach than against Ishida but Nelson honestly isn't as good. (and of course Kirkland was at his worst then) Nelson gets hit a lot, and has been down or hurt a bunch of times against lesser opposition. (dropped by Yudel Jhonson, Doel Carrasquillo, and Vincent Arroyo...hurt almost enough to go down by Antonio Johnson, Luciano Cuello and some others...)
i dont understand why this fight is even being made james is 30 and should be fighting a vanes, trout or andrade
I don't think this is a bad mismatch. It might end in a devastating KO, maybe even early, but I give Nelson a fair chance here. I like this fight for him because it's going to force him to box smart if he wants to win. He hasn't exploited his huge advantages in height and reach nearly enough.
Since Golovkin-Lee was cancelled, HBO needed to make something else to meet their high quota of fights where their favored guy is practically guaranteed a KO victory.
...and he probably never will. Emanuel Steward must be tumbling in his grave watching this ****** waste all that length.
