Kirkland is what he is. A flawed but exciting guy who may never be the best in his division but he will be one of the best to watch. I thought he atleast showed some head movement last night which is a plus. He has a lot to do on defense but he could still get better. On offense he is to left hand happy. He needs to do more work with his right hand. Until he develops some variety he'll never advance much from here. But there is some potential there.

Kirkland has beaten up enough of fighters like Vera, Albert, Duran, Said, etc. I'd like to see him step it up in 09. Not to the elite at 154 but try some fringe or former contenders. Sechew Powell, Bunema, or maybe Ouma. All would be good choices. Kirkland could really benefit by just being active and learning on the job.

I agree with just about everything this post said. He's got a lot of flaws but he's still a fun trainwreck. You wanna see whether he's eating canvas or putting the other guy to sleep. He's a tremendously powerful power and very fun to watch.

I'd favor Angulo to beat Kirkland as well..but they're similar in that both have shaky chins and suspect defense.

Question: who would you rather fight, Kirkland or his trainer Ann Wolfe? I'd avoid Wolfe; she looks tougher and meaner.

I'd take Angulo as well but it would be something. Last night, I was more interested in the Kirkland fight than the main event. He's simply fun to watch.

Stop smoking weed. Angulo's short crisp shots will hurt Mayorga and Angulo will make him pay countering since Mayorga is wild as hell. :deal

Angulo's chin won't hold up to Mayorga's attack. He gets stopped in the mid rounds.

How? Angulo will counter like crazy since Mayorga is wild and you can see his shots coming. :think

Angulo is almost as limited as Kirkland and slower. James will knock him out. The people on this site picking Angulo are in for a rude awakening.

Wasn't overly impressed with Kirkland. Vera was uncordinated, slow, and lacked power. With all that it took Kirkland for ever to take him out, and on top of that Kirkland began to gas himself. I think, as of right now, Baysangurov is probably the best prospect at 154, and if Kirkland were to move to 160 he'd be in for a rude awakening against naturally bigger guys.

He is a fun fighter to watch but he wot win a world title fighting like he did last night. He needs to add more tricks to his game, more feints, jabs, head movement, he should try up tee up the big shots rather than sticking full power behind everyone. I think if he stays the way he is, he gets found out the second he goes up a level.

Should also man up and get a real trainer that can teach him something he doesnt already know...

Is she a good enough trainer? i have no doubt that due to his style he'll a title shot, but he is still very basic and crude, still looks like a 10 fight novice to me. Maybe Kirkland will always be Kirkland, but cant help but think he wouldve picked up knowledge from a McGirt or a Goosen.

If things stay the way thet are,he will suffer at World level.
