Anybody have any news about how his career is progressing?? being from ireland it is hard to keep track of young american prospects! thank you for any info you can provide
He's 21-0 with 18 KO's and fought 4 times in 2007. His fight on November 30 against Allen Conyers was very exciting. Kirkland got dropped early in the first round but came back to KO Conyers before the round was over. He seems to be progressing well and remains one of my favorite prospects.
Yeah he's a good fighter. Good hand speed, power, and an underrated jab that can hurt you. He was dropped for the first time but he didn't seem that hurt as some were making him out to be. He had his leg's back when he got up.
His defense hasn't progressed much, but his offense is scary. He absolutely wants to kill the guy on the other side of the ring. Seems to be progressing well under Ann Wolfe, but she needs to get him to focus on his defense a bit more if he's to become titleholder material.
I agree. He's going to be extremely vulnerable to a counter puncher with power, and especially one who can move a little. But with his style and intensity, he stands to make a lot of money. He has a chance to become the major force at 154 over the next two years.
He better learn defense fast. You cannot blast out everyone, and he looks vulnerable to being hit. A harder puncher starches him if he gets hit like that.
