no he isnt, but you are talking about the benn you know now. im talking about the benn that had the same amount of fights. Not the elite nigel who beat mclellan. I see a lot of similarites in their early careers.
How do you know, Kirkland can't box? You have nothing to go on to say he can't. He hasn't had to show much boxing skill lately because he's been knocking his opponets out. I think you are making a quick judgement and you need to wait till Kirkland get's more fight's. Albert was supposed to have the ability to outbox Kirkland, but he cut off the ring and blitzed him. One thing he has shown is the ability to cut off the ring, and not every pressure fighter has that ability.
look man...come on guys..the guy is great for boxing. We love great skillful boxers, but we all deep down love aggressive lunatics like kirkland!! im going to start the U.K Kirkland appreciation society. I love the ****er!!
I've seen him in several other fights. He has decent skill, but it leaves a lot to be desired. He's not a polished boxer and he is what he is; an aggressive, powerful, exciting pressure/brawler. He'll win fights based on power and pressure alone, but I don't see him becoming an elite the way Gamboa will (which is what I was responding to when PacDbest said Kirkland is the real deal and Gamboa isn't).
Kirkland will be a problem for anyone in his weight class. The man basically gets tortured in training camp. Ann Wolfe is straight old school, and gets her fighters ready to do battle. I'm not saying Kirkland will be a future HOF'er, but he'll be one of those fighters that you don't want to face if you don't have to. He's like Mayorga at 147 except more disciplined and technically sound. Ask Andrew Lewis and Vernon Forresrt about how much their technical superiority helped them against Mayorga. Kirkland is in the same mold.
No he's not a polished boxer, but he atleast is decent. Mayorga wasn't even a decent boxer, and look what he did to Forrest.
Yes, he's a guy who'll either knock out his opponents or get outboxed/knocked out himself. They'll be some surprises in Kirkland's career I imagine, where he'll upset a more technically skilled opponent who can't take his shots or effectively deal with his pressure. I'd love to see him and Vernon Forrest go at it.
the part i love is, his trainer wolfe..is it any wonder kirkland is the way he is!! http://youtube.com/watch?v=1h-hmcnlmrQ&feature=related what a shot!!!
I also like Kirkland and his intensity. However if I were Kirkland's manager/trainer I would train him to box 12 rounds. Kirkland wont blow every opponent out in 2 rounds or less, so he must be mentally and physically prepared to box good boxers for the long haul.
