Watch the Lyell fight (or pretty much any Kirkland fight) and you'll see every reason why I said Kirkland is C+ level.

    :rofl Oh man..

I think this video pretty much sums up Kirkland. He's got good speed, he's aggressive, he's tough as nails, he's better than you would expect at picking his shots, and he can hit like a ton of bricks. However, he's also got some defensive flaws and can be hurt. Not a future HOF'er, but a tough guy that nobody is going to want to face if they don't have to.

C level or not, hes ranked 8 in the world now, so we will find out pretty soon if he can be a champion or not. One of the belt holders will have to fight him sooner or later. My feeling is that he is too determined not to succeed. I dont agree that he is a c level fighter either. If thats the case, then mayorga must be D or E level and he was a world champ. Cory spinks is in the top 5 light middleweights, and kirkland would walk straight through him. Even now.

For those criticizing Kirkland in here, how do we know yet? He's only been to the 4th round twice! For me I would like to see him go atleast 6-8 rounds with somebody pretty good to get a feel for what he really fights like.

Unless you guys are putting a lot into that KD he suffered from Conyers? Even then he popped right up and destroyed the dude.

Kirkland gets undersold on ESB. I'm not saying he's a PfP prospect, but you can't dismiss someone who has that much determination and mental strength, especially combined with pretty good speed and strong, very straight punches.

Where James is most limited actually is with his lower body. He squares himself up all the time; it's just how he's built. A guy with quick feet and stamina is going to be real trouble for him.

That said, I disagree that he is a C-fighter or that he can't win a world title. We're talking about 154 here.
