I'd give Kirkland a little more time to get his **** together. He didn't have problems against Joel Julio before he went to prison, that's gotta count for something.
****, did people freak this badly when Gamboa kept getting dropped?

lol yeah, he still gets **** about his chin. Maybe we should ease up, but this guy was 15-8. Hey man, sometimes you get hit with a punch that lands right on the "Button", and even if its not thrown hard it turns your legs into spaghetti noodles. We will find out the truth eventually when he fights better opposition. He is a very entertaining fighter.

Dude, you're still exaggerating a little. :yep

His one foot was unsteady for a brief instant. It wasn't full on spaghetti legs.

The bottom line though, is that he'll need to learn some defense to succeed at the very top. It's highly unlikely he'll be able to incorporate an adequate amount of defensive training into his game at this point, considering he's been a pro for ten years and this is essentially his third campaign in the ring (with prison layoffs from 2003-2006 and then 2009-2011 costing him a total of almost five years). He'd have to hook up with a brilliant trainer, and even then it would be an uphill struggle to change his stripes. Plus, messing with his style might weaken his real asset which is his balls-out aggression.

It was kind odd punch that wobbled him tonight. It wasn't even a hard shot, it just seems it him right in a sweet spot on the upper temple that caused him to loose his legs for a split second. Berrio actually landed bigger punches throughout the fight and Kirkland walked right through them.

But I agree that he'll probably eventually be KO'ed at some point and I've felt that way for a long time. He takes way to many clean punches but I guess when you fight in that style that's the price you pay.

Boy, but he's got some fireworks, doesn't he? I would have loved to see him against Omar Henry.

at 154 he is a serous contender, but same as angula, face a top dog like cintron and we will see what happens :D

He hasn't weighed in below the light middleweight limit in a long time.

Right now he is effectively a super middleweight.

Tonight in the ring against Berrio - having weighed in Thursday at 163.5 - he was probably in the 170's (and looked it). The kid has a massive back. He definitely lifted in prison.

Its not the chin its the style. When you are as relentless and ferocious as Kirkland is you are going to have a lot of holes in your defense that will allow you to get hit very cleanly and get hit with punches you dont see coming.

He does get hit too often, with a better defense he's almost unbeatable...
