    - ive not read the other toney thread

    - calzaghe's **** performances
robin reid - was a pretty good fighter who calzaghe beat despite breaking his hand in the 3rd round. that isn't a shite performance, that is calzaghe fighting in adversity, adapting in order to win - that win is severly under-rated because of that.

hopkins - calzaghe beat hopkins in hopkins back yard in his 1st fight at a new weight despite a disgustingly bias performance from ref joe cortez. hopkins was p4p number 4 at the time and this calzaghe win was sandwiched in between arguably the 2 best performances in hopkins career against tarver and pavlik.

you think these 2 are shite performances? i consider shite performances drawing with sanderline williams and havin split decisions with sosa and reggie johnson or getting your ass kicked twice off midget griffin.

btw, why are you persistently ignoring my question about toney and anabolic steroids? :think

with regards to this fight i see a UD win for calzaghe where he completely outworks toney in a similar fashion to how he took eubank out of his comfort zone.

yes toney is a good counter puncher with good defence but people need to understand that one of calzaghes great strengths is that he adapts in the ring, he can change his style depending on who is in front of him.

calzaghe would fight toney with in and out bursts similarly to how he fought v lacy, he wouldn't be hanging his chin out to be hit, i'm sure you remember that lacy barely landed a punch on joe in 12 rounds and similarly i'm sure you'll remember how calzaghe changed his style half way through the kessler fight to box in and out to great success.

for me toney gets out worked and took out of his comfort zone and although toney would still have some success on the counter, i reckon toney would start gassing the last couple of rounds because he doesn't get the chance to have any breathers like he usually likes to take in fights.

i'd go for 116-112 calzaghe, though i think anybody who thinks either fighter wins this by ko is out of their mind.

and as for roy jones whipping both, we know that isn't true. toney gets his head boxed off that is fact, as for calzaghe, its a completely different ball game.

So you're basing your analysis on Calzaghe outworking a past prime Eubank, and on Lacy not being able to counter Joe?

:patsch Joe couldn't KO a dead man walking in Jones, yet you think he'd KO Toney, never really hurt EVER, despite 168 being one he eas great at.

And to think some of you UK fans seem to think only Americans make stupid, nationalistic picks...

Funny thing is, you THINKyou pade some point, but this was long winded rant that means nothing. You are aware when these Head 2 head matchups come, it's assumed the BEST version is in the fith right?

Besides, all that **** you say about what Nunn did, what Jones did...what griffin did...NONE of them are Joe C.

2 big factors in the fight would be calzaghes work rate and calzaghes ability to adapt in the ring.

1)yes, i consider the hopkins fight a **** performance. he looked like ****

2)not avoiding the question, just forgot to answer it. this fight, toney does not use steroids as he repeatedly has in the past. don't see it affecting his performance

3)that is a solid analysis. yes, calzaghe was brilliant at adapting. i hate the ****er but he was able to adjust himself to his opponent. like you said it's his greatest strength. no, he would not let toney off the hook as many opponents do and toney would not be able to take rounds off. i personally don't feel he'd need to but calzaghe wouldn't give him the chance. and being outworked is in toney's MO. ****ing griffin did it in the 2nd fight. differing opinions on how the fight would go but i can dig this prediction

    4)jones kills them both.

they are examples of how toney gets his ass kicked, examples of how you beat toney.

with calzaghe, there are no examples, no blue print, because no one can match his workrate and joe can adapt to any style in the ring. calzaghe is also an awkward southpaw.

Calzaghe's rarely had to adpat to anything. What you talking about?

Like I said, when these H2H matchups are done, it's typically done with the best they've looked. ****, all one has to say is "Look at what Robin Reid was able to do..." nuff said...

1 - calzaghe looked like **** v bernard but we both know that was all through hopkins holding, using a strategy to frustrate calzaghe. credit to hopkins for that but if cortez had reffed the fight in the same manner he reffed the hatton v mayweather fight 6 months earlier than joe would have been allowed to shine much more, but that was down to cortez and his dubious change of refereeing strategy. if he had referee'd to the correct rules i believe hopkins would have gassed much earlier than what he did when he was feigning those low blow injuries late on. all hypothetical i know.

2 - why do you see toney not taking anabolic steroids as not effecting his performance. surely if that was the case, then toney would never have taken anabolic steroids at all. you know my opinion on drugs cheats, i despise it, a proven drugs cheat should be stripped of all his achievements in boxing imo, just like sprinter ben johnson was stripped of his gold medal and world record.

4 - i'm sure we'll go round in those circles again some day soon

    1)agreed

2)personally, i think some guys take it for performance enhancement (vargas) and some guys do it to put on weight or recover from injuries (toney). not saying it isn't illegal or that it didn't have an effect at all but those were at the higher weights. at 168, he didn't need or use those and that's where this fight is

    4)look forward to it:bbb
