I haven't seen a thread about this, and I think it is truely tragic. The fact that this guy was simply being a good citizen and was killed for it is a real tragedy. I was just went to the beach yesterday with my brother and my neice (6 years old) and this dude set up his chair right behind us and started smoking and swearing in a conversation with his friend. Smoking is also banned at the beach I was at, as was foul language. If it was just me and my brother I wouldn't have given a **** but a 6 year old right in front of them.

Needless to say this ***** wasn't happy when I confronted him about it. The thought that doing something like that could get you killed is just crazy..

Anyways..thats more for the Lounge I guess. I'm just wondering what type of boxer this guy was, I had never really heard of him before, seemed to be a real stand-up guy. Its just sad when punks have to pull a gun out and think they are tough.

(If this should be in the Lounge, by all means move it. Wasn't sure where to put it. Just wanted to see what others thought of this horrible incident.)

RIP James, I agree with your sentiments. As a boxer he was a damn good amateur, as a pro, big punch questionable chin. All round nice guy.

He fought Lennox Lewis in 1983 at the junior world championships. Then they met again in the 1986 Commonwealth games. He won bronze, Lewis went on to win the gold medal.
