The Toney of the Jirov fight vs the Haye of the Mormeck and Maccarinelli fights. Who would win and why?
Toney because he'd slip the somewhat telegraphed jab and right and fire rights and hooks at mid range where Haye keeps his hands down. Haye had problems with Mormeck at mid range and inside so Toney could really wreck him there.
Good post. That's my take on it too pretty much, I'm just very interested in hearing from someone who thinks Haye could win this fight. I have heard people say on here before that Haye is the best cw since Holyfield, but I just can't see why anyone would think Haye could beat '03 Toney - and I'm a bit of a Haye fan myself.
Haye breaks some rules that he really shouldn't but against Toney his speed/strength/power/athleticism/size may keep him in it and make it close, especially against a lazy Toney. Having said all that I think Haye matches up very nicely against Vitali. Think he'll look a million dollars in that fight
its a hard 1 to call, we dont know how good jirov really was he never had any sucess after the defeat by toney, haye's a bit of mover, he cant afford to stand and slug like jirov so toney cant counter as effectively, haye could move round and use his feet and try and pot shot toney who's always a statitionary target toney could just as easily take advantage of hayes dangerously low left and KO him clean, haye would need to catch a few decent counters he'd be hurt a couple of times and may everntually be stopped,
