Yes it was because of Kallen. She took over managing him early in his career when he was very young and she was like a second mother to him. So he did it to honor her. After they split later in his career he called her a Jewish ho and said that he regretted wearing that for her.

Yes, it was because of Jackie Kallen. They made a boxing movie where the main character (played by Meg Ryan) is based on her. Terrible movie. I like watching the post-fight of Toney-Nunn. Kallen was extremely happy because of Toney's improbable win.
