He beat him quite similarly(moreso really) to Floyd beating Corrales aside from the knockdowns. And all three fight were shut outs(and late TKO), that was the comparison.
james toney has got the best composure i have ever seen on a fighter! he just never wilts physically or mentally. Also he has one of the best chins in boxing right now. in the top 2 behind tua :deal imo he is one of the best p4p fighters in the world alongside SRR, langford, Duran, Ali, willie pep and whoever else! these are the fights that Toney fought with poetic effiency- against barkley doug dewitt mcallum 1 n 2 anthony hanshaw adolpho washington the jirov fight was awesome against a powerful volume puncher who is also a southpaw. (2003!) AND MANY MORE!!! holyfield fight - awesome- boxing lesson handed to evander. his fight against booker was awesome! his fight against peter1 was okay. Toney is a very exciting fighter to watch, i have tapes of all types of fighters but none are as entertaining as toney to watch. his punches are so sharp (quick, neat, the sound of the punches just puts the icing on the cake) throws beautiful combos with ALWAYS good power! he never wilts, which is amazing. and about when he peaked or this n that. if you watch his 3rd fight against macallum, you would of thought he was washed up, slow, no timing, no nutting. that was in 1997. if you watch his cruiserweight fights after that, he is amazing up until he fought ruiz. he stood infront of holyfield and HARDLY got hit. so you cant say he was washed up then, he showed everything in that fight. kinda reminds me of a sam langford. i can understand if you say he is washed up now (not that i think so :hey ) but back then he was still awesome. in the booker fight he fought incredibly, and his physique was amazing, he was cut out (by doing weight training). then the ruiz fight he comes in fat and ever since. he had a okay fight with guinn n peter tho. i would say its been about 2 or 3 years since toney fought his best. the cause? his weight. if he comes in light he would fight better and a danger for any of the champions.
There was never a knockdown to my memory, but Toney had a pretty big last round. I think it gave him the fight on my card. Extremely close fight, could've gone either way.
if it the fight i am thinking of the i defenitly agree that tony looked the best in that one. he was very sharp.
:admin You're telling me the KD was illegitimate with a scorecard like that. There was one single round that you could even argue could've been given to Toney. Giving him 3 rounds is incredibly biased for Toney, and that is no over-statement. Jones rightfully shut him out and dominated him.
no definetly not that fight I remember that fight I am talking about when he was at middleweight eons ago. that was a ****ing classic fight though, I was screaming like a madman during that last round.
Mr. Big N Bad, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this thread is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul
I know Roy shut him out, but Toney showed alot of skill in that fight, thats all im saying. That was a very relentless RJJ, to try and deal with.
i agree the fact Toney survived that fight and wasnt seriously hurt is a testament to his defensive skills as a boxer
