    forgive my ignorance but
i dont understand what is so special about this guy he beat barkley over 10 rounds WTF? benn had that guy out in the 1st
mike mccalum was 35 years old when toney fought him he was past it and toney could only manage a draw,
as for montell griffin, toney basically lived under roys shaddow in both fights Ok he was robbed in the 2nd fight but ideally if he was such a bad ass like people say he should have forced a stoppage?

i think that comparing fighters with common opponents is highly inaccurate as a reflection of their ability and lets be honest Toney would have beaten Benn with ease, he is far to skillful for Benn and his defence is too slick, sure Benn is very exciting with amazing power and tenacity but Toney is far more skilled and would pick him apart

ahh found it on youtube. It was against michael nunn. Very strong comeback in the late rounds and scored a hell of a knockdown in the 11th.

Just interesting when mentioning Toney's opposition....Littles, Williams, Nunn, Jones, Jirov, Griffin Mcullam etc..

Really puts into perspective how weak Joey Calzaghes Supermiddle era was in comparision

Ok, so everyone knows you despise Calzaghe but at least get your facts remotely right in one of your hater posts...

    Toney fought

    Nunn at MIDDLE
    Griffin at LIGHT HEAVY
    McCallum at LIGHT HEAVY (180)
    Jirov at CRUISER

I don't think so. He was one of the best guys around when middle and supermiddle were far deeper classes than they are now, he was inconsistant when you view his career as a whole but when he was on form he was up there with McCallum, Hopkins, even Jones despite losing to him, it's Jones' signature win imo. He's above the Eubank's and Calzaghe's of this world, leagues above the likes of Lacey, Taylor, Pavlik etc
