It is a better win than anything on Peter's ledger. And, what exactly did Peter go on to achieve after Maskaev?

That's your opinion and you are entitled to it. I wouldn't necessarily agree with it since, a) there are a few other candidates who could be considered worse and, b) I do not know what period of boxing your lifetime spans.

That aside, and in my opinion, Peter likely ranks alongside the worst Titlists in history.

And the Toney that fought Holyfield was much better than the Toney that fought Peter. Yet you have no issue insisting on the Peter fight.

It is weird you refer to Holyfield because Foreman lost that fight also to Moorer because Foreman lost every round to him .

Toney was more skilled than Stewart and was better at slipping shots than Moorer, Toney`s reach was only two inches shorter than Moorer`s and Stewart only had a 78 inch reach.

Foreman didn't lose every round to Moorer even if we discount the KO round, which he sure didn't lose.

Toney is a great fighter but his heavyweight run, in terms of relatively meaningful results, is really quite overrated.

A lot of this, I suspect, is due to his having, at one time, competed at Middleweight - and also having a storied career on his way to becoming oversized and growing into the Heavyweight division. If one can see past that and just observe his Heavyweight credentials then they are really not that impressive at all.

Any credibility Toney has at Heavyweight is anchored on his win over a clearly over-the-hill Holyfield. Following this, Toney goes 2–-1-1 (with 1 ND) over the next three years - and the two in the W column are against unrated opponents. Indeed IIRC, other than Holyfield, Toney does no’t have a recorded win over any other ranked Heavyweight opponent.

The Peter rematch more or less puts an end to Toney's chances of making an impression.

Second-career Foreman brings too much patience, persistence and power to the table for Toney to overcome. He's getting beat and there's little Toney put in at Heavyweight to believe otherwise.

So when was Toney at his "peak" when he competed at HW? Is it conveniently only for 1 fight against an ancient Holyfield?

All I said was that Peter was the closest opponent to Foreman Toney faced so perhaps some clues on how this would play out can be discerned from those two fights. I never once in this entire discussion said we can't use any of Toney's other fights to draw conclusions. The second closest opponent Toney fought was Rahman and that doesn't help your case either.

It is weird you refer to Steward because Foreman beat Steward and Toney lost to Peter. You are doing the typical dishonest tactic of making a huge deal out of a close win for a fighter you dislike while ignoring losses for the fighter you like.

There are surely at least half a dozen HW titlists worse than Foreman and Moorer within NoNeck's lifetime.

    Stiverne
    Martin
    Peter
    Smith
    Ruiz
    Seldon

Well the first fight with Rahman was a draw and Toney made Rahman quit in the second fight.Again Toney was 20 pounds heavier in the first fight than agains Holyfield.

Sure the Peter can be used a mere indication if you put it within the right context. But you overplayed that card by constantly referring to that fight and have been called by a few posters on it. It does not help your credibility. Now as indicated earlier in the thread, I picked Foreman by SD.Actually I am a fan of both Foreman and Toney. They were also good friends outside the ring

Tbf to NoNeck, he did actually specify "worst lineal heavyweight champion".

Even then, I would say Rahman, Douglas, Spinks and Spinks are also relatively recent candidates in that category.

But, in the eyes of an extreme Foreman detractor, Moorer is zeroed in on for letting Foreman beat him.

That one would compare lineal champions, who held victories at the highest level, with low-grade titlists like Maskaev and Peter says enough though, really.

Moorer completely out-boxed Foreman but George certainly set up that KO, he knew what he was doing.

He didn't win every round, however.

Ruiz obviously was better. Solid resume there.

Peak Peter would blast Moorer out and outwork Foreman.

Smith put the work in. Beating Witherspoon, Weaver and Bruno by stoppage is better than what the aforementioned mediocre duo accomplished in the 90s.

Stiverne was solid for a short time. Perfectly capable of flattening Moorer with a counter and out jabbing Foreman. Go watch those Arreola fights.

Seldon...Foreman got outboxed over 12 by a chinless wonder who couldn't really box, but Seldon actually could. In fact, he beat Tucker for the belt that Foreman tossed while openly ducking him.

Foreman would probably duck Charles Martin. He wasn't going around fighting 6'5, 245 pound southpaw with pop.

This^ is tragically predictable from you. What has a fight that is more than seven years removed from when Moorer was lineal Champion got to do with anything?
