Great article, thanks Charles. Looks like the rumours are true and Toney is taking his work outs very serious again. It's interesting to read that he's still promoted by Goossen, and trained by Shadeed Suluki again. Vitali is looking for an opponent on september 12th, why not Toney?

He is 40 years old, has blown up, turned in **** performances, gotten gift decisions, and genuinely looked like crap.

He is an irrelevant fighter in the HW division

 

I agree. I would love to see the fight expecially James Toney vs. Vlad. James might just be able to hang in there and land that right enough times and stop Vlad. Vitali I see stopping James in the late rounds. Interesting fights, but for James to think he is owed the fight he is wrong, yet the fight itself would be hard and I think the Klitchko's know a Toney fight is not easy. I feel for James. He is good but a little small for heavyweight.

 

He is 40, so what?Archie was 47 when he fought for the title. Hopkins is still going strong at 45. Toney is in full traning and ready to go and that is what really matters.

He is an ATG who deserves one last shot. Arreola might be more credible but we will have to wait whether Goossen wants the fight at this stage already.

 

Toney has called out the Klits before. He bleated long and loud about it.

When it looked like he may have to actually back up his words, when there was an actual possibility that he could get in the ring with them, he turned and waddled away as fast as he could. Better to be a loud mouth without balls then to be a dead hero.

I think he may be the personal role model for David Haye.

 

Under the guidance of Suluki, James Toney looked fit and alright in the Rahman II fight. I thought that was his best performance in years.

At this stage, Toney is better up with Goossen han his own promotional company. I think he realized that himself.

If Chambers and Goossen do not fight Vitali, then JT definitely has a chance this time.Who else is out there?
