James Toney Goes Off on Randy Couture, Dana White, MMA

This. He's fighting for himself. This fight won't prove MMA is superior to Boxing should James lose because he's old as **** and not relevant. His boxing career is pretty much done.

Whys all the hate for Toney. Hes a ****ing legend. Hes past his best but so ****ing what. Everyone disssing Haye and Floyd for ducking and also dissing Toney for being fearless. What the **** do you want

 

Toney may be an aging, overweight ******, but he certainly was right about one thing in that interview - (On David Haye) "He's a momma's boy! He's gay"

Quality observation

 

Who is hating on Toney? He was a great boxer and it would seem that this move is insane.

 

It wasn't a prudent bet and I realized that when I offered the wager but it's all in good fun. I'm a boxing guy and he's an MMA guy so we frequently banter back and forth. I'm hopeful that James can shock the combat sports world but realistically I'm well aware that it's a long shot and that I'll probably owe my buddy an order of hot wings.

 

Crap like this is why I can't stand some of these MMA nerds. (Boxing nerds too.)

He was more concerned with "proper move nomenclature" than what matters... being able to fight. Who gives a damn if James Toney or any other guy fighter doesn't know the names of moves? Is that the new standard? If you can't define it you aren't MMA/Boxing/etc worthy?

Can the guy kick butt? Yes? No? Did he sign the contract? No further questions. Quit trying to belittle people with BS non-knowledge. Fighting is about "actions" not "definitions".

 

Nice! I like that quote Bald!:good James is about actions that for sure...he may lose but the man is not going in with that mind set. He never does. I think Toney could pull off the upset. IF he has been training half as hard as he is saying and everyone else is saying. This ain't no regular joe coming off the street and fighting MMA. This is an all time great boxer and one of the most instincual fighters I've ever seen. So I wish Lights Out all the best and hope he wins.

If he doesn't I gurantee he'll make boxing proud!

 

Of course as a boxing fan I'd like him to win this fight. He always comes accross as a ****ing thick idiot though, so when he says he represents boxing I cringe.

 

Word up man. I think this is probably the absolute WORST matchmaking job in history, but I still back Toney on the strength of backing Boxing. I also still love MMA too.

Its funny Floyd fans back him when he talks much more **** than Toney, but he does not back it up. Toney talks ****, but he always backs it up in the ring and a lot of so called boxing fans hate him for it.

This is boxing vs MMA and all the so called boxing fans are putting down a legend of the sport of boxing and defending MMA. If you so called boxing fans really love the sport of boxing you would support Toney based on that alone, you should discard whether you personally like him or not.

Regarding UFC, its Dana White (the Vince McMahon of MMA) that has constantly criticized boxing and boxers. He is always putting boxing down. He says its corrupt, its unfair, no good fighters and no good match ups are there, etc., etc. This is just another example of White's disrespect and ego by putting down Toney and calling this fight a freak show, saying Toney is a joke, etc. He should show the respect that Toney deserves, he is after all one of the greatest fighters of all time.

The UFC is the joke and its operated much like the WWE (I am not saying the UFC is fake, I am referring to the way its managed/promoted, etc.) and I bet the same morons who are die hard fans of WWE are die hard fans of UFC. That just shows the IQ level of a lot of WWE and UFC fans is probably around 80. Dana Whites hypocrisy is plain as day. He calls boxing a joke, when his heavyweight champion is a former WWE wrestler who was given a title shot after only 2 fights, one of which Lesnar lost in an embarrassing fashion. And White complains about boxing's heavyweight division. I can't think of anything more pathetic than a former WWE wrestler going in and defeating a so called legend. That says a lot about UFC that a fake wrestler can beat their top heavyweight legend. He used to criticize Kimbo and say he would never sign him because he was a joke, but then he signs him into the UFC.

White says UFC is better than boxing, bit when Roy Jones challenged their so-called P4P fighter, Silva, White refused to let Silva fight Jones in the boxing ring. He wants boxers to go into UFC and challenge MMA fighters and when they lose he says,"see UFC fighters are better than boxers", but he flat out refuses to let his fighters go and compete in the boxing ring. White is nothing, but a hypocrite.

Toney was exactly right when he criticized the UFC for giving a guy with 12 losses a status as a legend. He also hit the nail right on the head when he criticized the UFC's Hall of Fame criteria. Putting fighters in the Hall of Fame when they are still actively fighting, instead of waiting until some time has past after their retirement . The best way to gauge a fighters career is to let some time pass after their retirement. History is the best way to judge if a fighter should be in the hall of fame.

I agree, **** these bitches. I cant wait to rub all their stupid posts in their face when floyd defeats pac and toney beats couture.

 

at the end of the day Randy better not stand up with Jame. Easily James will get the KO if he decides to "test the waters". And Randy just might being that he's a true compeititor and warrior. He'll need to get james to the ground if he wants to have a shot. And I think James is working hard on take down defense which he'll need against the kind of wrestler Randy is.
