James Toney - 'Hello, 911 - I'd like to report a murder" - Couture/Haye

I think Toney's going to get a shellacking...and I'm actually going to be a little surprised if he goes through with it.

 

The problem with this matchup is that it favors Couture because it is on his rules. In the boxing ring James would win easily. It will not hurt boxing. People are aware that James is not in the boxing ring.

 

If any MMA fan actually tries to say that MMA is better than boxing because Couture (or 'Quature' at JT called him in the vid) beat James Toney then they're delusional. Victory over an old, crazy, faded and possibly fat James Toney under MMA rules doesn't exactly prove much. I'm sure we will get some stick if it happens but it'll show how idiotic certain sections of fans can be

im an ex pro boxer but i honestly believe toney will be embarassed/humiliated/laughed at for 1st time as a fighter and then the psycho toney might shoot dana white seriously toney aint all there,the lights are on but noones home!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Oh yeah, don't get me wrong, Toney will more than likely get mashed up but if any MMA fan uses it as a stick to beat boxing with then it looks bad on them IMO.

 

Uh, those aren't "his rules". Those are the unified rules under which all martial artists of any stripe (including boxers) are allowed to test their mettle in a mixed combat environment. There are no artificial constraints on what Toney can do. He can still box just like he always does. Only this time he'll be facing someone with a different and more well rounded set of combat techniques.

And also, a lot of people fail to realize that these aren't the 2 best representatives of the 2 sports. They're both in their 40's and past their prime. For that reason, this fight doesn't prove that MMA is better than boxing or vice versa. The fact is, on the elite level, some boxers would beat some MMA fighters and some would get beaten. There would be no clear "winner." And it's true that if an MMA fighter were to fight a boxer 10 times in a boxing match and 10 times under MMA rules they would lose far more often under boxing rules. And the same is true the other way around, so it all depends.

Although it probably still wouldn't prove anything, a more interesting match up would be Klitschko vs Lesnar.

 

The pure boxing fans are priceless. "MMA fans are going to turn this into MMA vs. Boxing." "This would be a victory for Boxing" "MMA fans will never let us live it down" blah blah blah ect. ect.

Shut the **** you paranoid ******s. Just about every MMA fan sees this fight for the farce that it is.

 

He doesn't look as slim as I would like to see and I couldn't understand some of what he was saying.

 

I keep telling everyone that YES...James will most likely lose in this fight b/c lets face it...it's Randy Couture in his own enviornment. Randy has got to be the most difficult FIRST fight for any MMA pro.

James hopped out of the frying pan into the fire with this one. But you all seem to forget James is a natural instinct fighter. Even though it was boxing he made his profession, mentally he's a fighter inside and out.

He's from what I've seen and heard all indicate James working on being well rounded when he debuts. Anyone who knows anything about boxing understands the kind of skills and natural talent he has. And anyone who knows boxing and followed James Toney's career realises that a truly prepared and more importantly, a MOTIVATED James toney is a problem.

He's motivated from what I can see and he's hella competeitive. He's not coming to lay down that's for sure. He'll do a lot better than you guys think. And James is good enough with his hands to change things quickly with 4 oz gloves. So Randy is gonna be on his "P's and Q's" while standing with James.

 

Toney looks to be in fighting shape.

 

Please, Randy... choke this jabroni out. Please.
